The final stretch of the summer transfer window is here and Phil Parkinson has revealed whether Wrexham will be active ahead of Deadline Day.

Wrexham’s summer has been one of immense success, as they shifted on several fringe players and captured seven new signings.

The Reds have bolstered their goalkeeper ranks, defence and midfield, including a club-record deal to sign Ollie Rathbone from Rotherham United.

So far, getting most of their business done early has paid off, with Phil Parkinson’s men finding themselves in fourth position after winning two and drawing one of their opening three games.

It’s been an excellent start to the campaign following promotion from League Two and Parkinson has now revealed whether Wrexham will sanction any transfers before the deadline.

Phil Parkinson reveals Wrexham transfer plans before Deadline Day

The only missing piece to Wrexham’s transfer puzzle is arguably signing a striker to partner or challenge Paul Mullin for a place in the starting XI.

Parkinson wanted to sign a forward to take the pressure off Mullin somewhat, with the Liverpudlian firing over 100 goals in three campaigns.

Unfortunately, the Wrexham boss has been unable to land any of his targets but there is still hope that a deal can be struck for one of Sheffield Wednesday’s strikers, Bailey Cadamarteri or Michael Smith.

Revealing his current stance on the Reds transfer business, Parkinson has said the club will only do something in the market if the right talent becomes available while he accepts that a couple of his players need to be loaned out.

Speaking to The Leader, Parkinson explained: “We will have a look at a few things but the lads are stepping up to the plate. I am not getting carried away. If the right player becomes available we will make a move.

“There’s a few of our lads we feel need to go out on loan so we are not thinking we have cracked it by any stretch of the imagination.

“But there are players who have deserved their chance at this football club to show they can do it at this level and at the moment they are doing great.”

What would be a dream end to Wrexham’s transfer window

Wrexham have nailed their recruitment strategy this summer. They’ve captured talents with big potential in the shape of Arthur Okonkwo, Sebastian Revan and Lewis Brunt while signing players who are vastly experienced in League One, including Dan Scarr, Rathbone and George Dobson.

Their strong start to the campaign just proves how efficient and savvy they’ve been in the market. However, Wrexham can still have a dream end to the window if a few variables fall into place.

Like Parkinson said, the Welsh outfit need to either loan out or sell a couple of their fringe players. Billy Waters, Anthony Forde, Jake Bickerstaff and Sam Dalby are all on that list.

For Bickerstaff, in particular, a loan move must be sourced as the young striker needs to be playing regular first-team football for his development.

In terms of incomings, it speaks volumes of their success this summer that Wrexham don’t need much, aside from another striker.

If they can land a prolific goalscorer, perhaps Smith from Wednesday, the Reds will have every chance of achieving a third successive promotion.
