Wrexham are aiming to bolster their attacking ranks in the upcoming January transfer window.
The Red Dragons are flying high in League One this season, closing the gap on league leaders Wycombe Wanderers to just two points after beating Barnsley 1-0 on Tuesday.
The Hollywood-owned club are not expected to rest on their laurels, however, with January reinforcements now eyed to further strengthen their promotion chances.
Wrexham want to sign a striker in January after seeing their forward line hindered for much of the 2024/25 campaign.
Jack Marriott kicked off the season in sensational form and despite being out injured since early October, remains their top scorer in the league with five.
Away from Marriott, Paul Mullin has struggled at Wrexham this season, netting just a single league goal since his side won promotion to the third tier.
In turn, with Modou Faal still inexperienced and not ready to lead the line just yet, a new number nine arriving in the winter window does make a lot of sense.

Ange Postecoglou gives Wrexham green light to pursue summer target
While Faal is certainly a promising prospect for the future, the Welsh outfit did have a number of other striking targets in mind before settling on their now-record signing.
One such target was a Tottenham Hotspur youngster. Wrexham enquired about signing Will Lankshear on loan from Spurs midway through July 2024.
However, a move proved difficult to complete, with it emerging a month later that Tottenham wanted to keep Wrexham target Lankshear as Ange Postecologu was keen to hand him more minutes at senior level.
Now though, recent comments made by the Australian, as per football.london, have given Phil Parkinson’s side hope of reigniting their interest in the 19-year-old.
Speaking about his current strikers, Postecoglou confirmed he would like to see his front line bolstered in the coming transfer windows.
He said: “Even the little games he’s [Richarlisnon] played this year, he’s made an impact. So, you know, that’s what you kind of hold on to, but there’s no doubt we need some bolstering in that front third over the next couple of transfer windows.
“Dom coming in has been great, but again we can’t overload him either, because ultimately, you know, even if he stays fit and nothing happens, performance will invariably drop if his energy levels drop. So it’s something we’re aware of and need to plan for.”
Should Tottenham sign a new centre-forward in January, that would push Lankshear even further down the pecking order and perhaps see the North London outfit be more willing to let him go out on loan for the second half of 2024/25.

How Will Lankshear compares to Wrexham strikers
Even without a new striker on their books, Lankshear – who set the Lillywhites back £2m according to Sky Sports – has struggled to break into the first-team at Spurs this season.
He has played just one minute of Premier League football this term and 126 minutes in the Europa League.
However, League One is obviously a bit of a step down from the top flight, and his U21 record suggests the teenager would still be an excellent addition to Wrexham despite his lack of minutes in 2024/25 so far.
| Stats | Will Lankshear (U21) | Paul Mullin (2024/25) | Modou Faal (2024/25) | Ollie Palmer (2024/25) |
| Games | 34 | 20 | 8 | 20 |
| Goals | 26 | 3 | 2 | 3 |
| Assists | 3 | 0 | 0 | 1 |
While Faal and Palmer are best suited to operating as the target man in Wrexham’s front two, Lankshear’s pace and agility would make him the perfect competition for Mullin.
Marriott had previously excelled in that role but the 30-year-old is still out with a long-term injury and will likely take some time to get back to his best once he finally starts training again.
