Wrexham are gearing up for the 2025 January transfer window with at least one signing expected to be made.
Wrexham have an excellent recruitment policy under Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds that has helped them climb up the EFL ladder into League One in just a few years.
Ahead of their return to the third tier of English football, the Red Dragons made nine signings in the 2024 summer transfer window.
Following those additions, Wrexham snapped up two free-agents in October to fill a couple of holes in their squad.
Jon Dadi Bodvarsson was signed for free after leaving Bolton Wanderers last season, filling a gap up front after star striker Jack Marriott picked up a long-term injury.
Elsewhere, Wrexham signed Matty James to cover in the centre of midfield with George Evans also facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Wrexham fans send Matty James transfer message to Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney
The 33-year-old has excelled during his brief time in Wales, with Phil Parkinson dubbing James ‘outstanding’.
Now, after James was once again superb when Wrexham beat Lincoln City on Tuesday, fans have taken to social media to urge Reynolds and McElhenney to extend the former Bristol City man’s contract, which currently runs out on January 1st.
One fan wrote: “Time to get Matty James signed to a longer term deal! He’s so good!”
Another added: “To be fair I think Dobson was keeping Evans out of the team when Evans was healthy. And I’m not sure if or when Evans will be back from injury this season. Either way, I think Matty James is an upgrade at that spot and allows for Dobson to play further forward.
A third fan wrote: “Mat James going nowhere in January. Wouldn’t be surprised if he gets an 18-month deal.”
Another Wrexham supporter said: “Absolute rock in midfield giving others license to roam. Agreed with poster…. Sign [him] up.”
“I wouldn’t be against extending his deal to the end of the season. Bodvarsson though hasn’t proven he deserves it extended in my opinion,” a fifth added.
A sixth Red Dragons fan claimed: “Matty James looks like a steal and the real deal. He’s at least Championship material. How on earth did we get him as a free transfer after the deadline? He needs a new contract.”
While an eighth wrote: “Matty James is a top, top-quality midfielder by the way. Absolute Rolls Royce of a player, hope we sign him in January.”

Matty James comments on Wrexham future
While fans clearly want to see James stay at the club beyond January, his future remains up in the air.
Wrexham have a lot of quality midfield options already and his advanced age could put a potential fresh deal in doubt.
However, the Red Dragons do have a history of offering deals to older stars, famously bringing Ben Foster out of retirement to aid their promotion from the National League.
James has commented on his Wrexham future already and seems pretty relaxed about the situation.
He said: “Now the aim is to give everything I possibly can to Wrexham from now until January and see what happens.
“I am going to do that every single day; give my all every time I get on the pitch, give 100 per cent and we will see where that takes us come January.”
