Wrexham have made approaches for a number of transfer targets.

Tom Cairney is considering Wrexham’s offer after it was reported that Phil Parkinson’s side have offered the Fulham midfielder £50k a week to join the Racecourse Ground.

Wrexham are interested in Lewis Travis from Blackburn Rovers, whilst they have also held talks with Premier League duo Ben Davies and Danny Ings.

Aaron Cresswell has also been offered a Wrexham deal and his former manager David Moyes once explained why Parkinson is so keen for the West Ham defender to join.

David Moyes verdict on Aaron Cresswell will impress Phil Parkinson

Speaking to West Ham’s official website back in 2020, Moyes was full of praise for Cresswell and two things would have caught the attention of the Wrexham manager.

Parkinson doesn’t sign players with egos and the professionalism of Cresswell was highlighted by his Hammers boss.

Moyes stated: “Aaron Cresswell is a very good boy to work with. This is the second time I’ve been here with Cress and on both occasions he’s been really valuable. More importantly, he’s calm, he’s consistent and he plays regularly which is important in modern football.”

Parkinson prefers to play with a 3-5-2 formation and Cresswell’s versatility was also highlighted by Moyes as he claimed the defender was comfortable playing two positions within that same system.

Moyes explained: “I think he’s found a role he’s comfortable with too, playing as a left centre-back, but he’s also more than capable of playing at left back, and that’s what he is really.”

Aaron Cresswell would fit Wrexham’s preferred transfer profile

The Red Dragons still have some convincing to do after it was revealed by Wrexham Insider that Cresswell wants to remain in the Premier League if possible.

However, should a suitable offer not arrive it is thought Wrexham hold an advantage in their Cresswell pursuit due to his desire to move closer to his Merseyside home.

At 35, Cresswell has seen everything in football and has valuable experience in the Championship from his time at Ipswich Town.

He is exactly the type of signing that Parkinson will be seeking this summer, a player still able to give everything on and off the pitch for his Wrexham squad.
