Wrexham are experiencing the calm before the transfer storm this summer.

Wrexham’s transfer budget has been revealed at ‘around £25m’ as Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney prepare to give Phil Parkinson the tools required to compete in the Championship.

Reynolds and McElhenney promised to be ‘aggressive’ in the market this summer as they look to back Wrexham once again ahead of what will be a tough season.

Wrexham can take inspiration from other League One clubs in that it is possible to survive in the second tier and have received a boost in their pursuit of one Premier League transfer target.

Wrexham hold ‘advantage’ in Aaron Cresswell transfer pursuit

Wrexham are interested in Aaron Cresswell after the West Ham defender confirmed he will depart the London club at the end of his contract this summer.

Leeds are also said to be interested in the England international however, as per the Mirror, the Red Dragons are said to hold one key ‘advantage’ in their pursuit.

Wrexham are said to be willing to offer an ‘attractive’ financial package to Cresswell and also the opportunity of more first-team minutes compared to potential transfer rivals.

Cresswell is also said to be keen to move closer to his ‘native’ Merseyside area and Wrexham would give the defender the chance to do just that.

How Aaron Cresswell fared this season in the Premier League

Parkinson hinted at talks with Premier League targets earlier this month and it appears he is continuing his transfer strategy of acquiring experienced players from higher divisions.

At 35, Cresswell holds a wealth of experience and was once described as ‘exceptional’ by pundit Micah Richards as per Football365.

Parkinson has a number of options at left wing-back with James McClean and Sebastian Revan both playing their part in the promotion campaign.

Cresswell could deputise as the left-sided centre back in Wrexham’s 3-5-2 formation and should the Red Dragons begin their summer with his signature, it would prove to be more shrewd business from the club.
