Wrexham were linked with Patrick Bamford in the January transfer window. Now a Championship side themselves, a summer move could be very realistic.
Wrexham have growing number of names on their summer transfer wishlist and one club they seem to be taking a look at is Leeds United.
Like themselves, Leeds were promoted this season. They won the Championship title whilst Wrexham finished 2nd in League One, with both teams promoted.
And as is likely the case with both teams, both will see some players leaving this summer. At the Racecourse, expect Paul Mullin to leave Wrexham along with Ollie Palmer, and expect Leeds to shed some of their own deadwood too.
Patrick Bamford could be someone who the club now moves on. Bamford failed to score in the 2024/25 Championship season, with all 17 of his league appearances coming from the bench.
Out of contract in 2026, Bamford has been tipped to leave Leeds United this summer.

Leeds United could sell Patrick Bamford on the cheap amid Wrexham interest
The latest report on Bamford’s future at Elland Road has revealed that Leeds are likely to part ways with the 31-year-old this summer, with TeamTalk writing that the one-cap former England man ‘will be allowed to leave this summer’.
Perhaps more interest though is that the same report goes on to state that ‘Leeds are unlikely to expect a hefty fee’ for Bamford, given his injury record and his contract situation, which could be brilliant news for Wrexham who are interested in signing Bamford once again.
In the last January transfer window, Wrexham broke their transfer record to sign Sam Smith in a £2million deal from Reading. We could see that record broken again this summer but expect to see the club’s spending spread out over a number of players.

Patrick Bamford to Wrexham has already been given the green light
Wrexham were perhaps a bit too ambitious in their bid to sign Bamford in January. But promotion to the Championship, along with Leeds’ promotion to the Premier League, changes all of that.
Speaking earlier in the season journalist Ben Jacobs explained how Wrexham will have a better chance of signing Bamford when they’re promoted, which has of course happened.
Jacobs explained: “Bamford and Wrexham may become more of a plot line if Wrexham get promoted. I think it’s less likely if they don’t, that they’re going to be able to afford him, and unless Leeds start offering up Bamford on a loan, it’s not something that Wrexham can or will move on.”
For Phil Parkinson then, the door is very much open on a possible deal for Bamford. But his wages and injury record certainly need to be taken into consideration before making a firm decision on whether or not to make a move.
