Wrexham have tabled an opening offer for a potential new signing, ahead of the summer transfer window opening in June.
Wrexham have wasted no time in their preparations for the summer. Phil Parkinson’s side are being linked with new players almost every day, and there’s some really exciting names being linked too.
It’s claimed that Wrexham could sign Harry Darling on a free transfer from Swansea City. Leeds United’s Patrick Bamford and Joe Gelhardt are linked with Wrexham too.
The Dragons squad could undergo a massive overhaul this summer and it’s certainly an exciting time. But there needs to be that bit of star quality within the ranks, and Fulham’s Tom Cairney would bring exactly that.

Wrexham have made contract offer to Fulham man Tom Cairney
On Thursday, Wrexham were linked with Tom Cairney. It was claimed that Wrexham could smash their transfer record to sign the 34-year-old midfielder, although reports online say that he’s out of contract in the summer.
Wrexham Insider understands that Cairney remains out of contract at Craven Cottage this summer but that he and Fulham are in talks over a possible renewal, with Cairney also in talks with other clubs, including Wrexham.
We understand that Wrexham have now made an offer for Cairney to move to the club this summer. The deal would see him become the club’s highest-paid player in Wrexham’s history.

When does the summer transfer window open for EFL clubs?
The Wrexham rumour mill has really been turning this week. News of Cairney’s contract offer too shows that the Dragons are serious about challenging to sign top players this summer, and that they’re ready to spend big on signing likewise players.
And Parkinson is acting early with the EFL summer transfer window opening on June 1st for 10 days, then closing for a further six days before reopening until the summer transfer deadline on September 1st.
The next two weeks then could see Wrexham put a lot of things in place, in time for the summer transfer window opening, with a potential move for Cairney being one of those things.
It could be a pivotal signing for the club going into next season given Cairney’s Championship quality and experience, with three Championship promotions under his belt.
