Wrexham’s recruitment drive isn’t over just yet as Phil Parkinson launches a move to sign another attacking threat for the new season.

Wrexham were expected to splash the cash this summer, but the spending took a little while to arrive.

Ryan Hardie joined Wrexham in a £700,000 move before Danny Ward completed a free transfer return to the STōK Cae Ras.

The chequebook is certainly out now, though, with Wrexham making three seven-figure signings in quick succession.

Liberato Cacace arrived from Empoli, George Thomason joined Wrexham for £1.2million from Bolton Wanderers, and Lewis O’Brien finalised a move from Nottingham Forest.

Add in Josh Windass arriving on a free transfer, and Wrexham have added serious quality to Phil Parkinson’s squad – with more potentially to come.

Wrexham launch Nathan Broadhead bid

Wrexham have been linked with Kieffer Moore this week, with the Sheffield United target man a potential addition to Parkinson’s attack.

The attention now shifts to another Wales international, though, with The Sun reporting that Wrexham have launched a bid to sign Ipswich Town’s Nathan Broadhead.

Sky Sports are also reporting that Wrexham have made an approach for Broadhead, with £7million on the table.

Cacace became Wrexham’s record signing before O’Brien broke it again just days later, with Broadhead now potentially set to do the same.

The Tractor Boys don’t want to sell Broadhead, but Kieran McKenna’s side have not ruled out a sale at the right price.

Ipswich paid £1.5million to sign Broadhead from Everton in 2023, and now want to rake in considerable profit.

Broadhead hit 13 Championship goals in Ipswich’s promotion-winning campaign in 2024, before making 18 Premier League appearances last season.

The 27-year-old was previously in the Wrexham youth setup, but was snapped up by Everton at the age of just 10.

Wrexham are now ready to push the boat out for Broadhead, but may need to go even higher in order to tempt Ipswich into a deal.

Nathan Broadhead not involved in Ipswich Town friendly

Adding weight to Wrexham’s pursuit of Broadhead is the fact that he was not involved in Ipswich’s squad to face Charlton Athletic on Tuesday night.

Broadhead was on the bench to face Aberdeen on Friday night, but came on with around 20 minutes to play.

Many would have expected Broadhead to start against Charlton in order to build up his minutes ahead of the Championship season.

Instead, Broadhead wasn’t even named on the bench, which will only intensify speculation surrounding a move to Wrexham.

Maybe Broadhead picked up a knock in his brief cameo against Aberdeen, but the timing of his omission is certainly interesting as Wrexham ramp up a move.
