Wrexham are facing increasing competition to land one of their rumoured transfer targets, as Championship clubs begin to line up for the signing.
Wrexham are setting their bar high in this summer’s transfer window, with links to some incredible potential signings.
So far, we’ve seen Wrexham being linked with Christian Eriksen, along with other names like Tom Cairney, Tom Lawrence, and Jonny Evans to name a few.
It was even reported that Wrexham have offered Cairney a bumper contract to move to the Racecourse this summer, but the Scot is currently weighing up a contract renewal at Fulham as well.
Meanwhile, Phil Parkinson has got his first signing over the line. Wrexham have signed Ryan Hardie from Plymouth Argyle, marking the start of a potentially very busy summer transfer window at the Welsh club.
Who signs next remains a bit of a mystery. But as the situation at Sheffield Wednesday worsens, there’s a chance that Barry Bannan could soon be on the move.

Championship trio join the race to sign Wrexham transfer target Barry Bannan
It’s been claimed that Wrexham are interested in signing Bannan this summer. The Owls skipper and club legend is out of contract this summer, with his side going through some turmoil off the pitch having been placed under a registration embargo, and having been placed under certain transfer restrictions until January 2027.
It’s reported that Bannan is open to staying at Sheffield Wednesday. But there remains huge uncertainty over whether or not that’ll even be possible. And now there’s reports of fresh transfer interest in Bannan from some of Wrexham’s Championship rivals.
SportsBoom claim that Coventry City, Derby County, and Stoke City are ‘closely monitoring the situation’ at Hillsborough, and that all three ‘have made initial enquiries’ to sign Bannan on a free transfer this summer.

The latest at Sheffield Wednesday and what it means for Barry Bannan
The saga at Sheffield Wednesday gets more and more absurd and worrying each day. But the latest details coming out of the club state that there’s now a restriction on how much the club can pay any new players who potentially arrive this summer.
It’s claimed that Sheffield Wednesday can only pay new players £7,000-a-week. But whether that would apply to Bannan as a player renewing his stay, and not technically a ‘new player’ as such, remains to be seen.
But should the Owls come to a point where they simply can’t keep hold of Bannan then there’d be no shortage of clubs ready to take on the 35-year-old, who shone once again last season with four goals and five assists in 41 Championship games for the club.
