Wrexham are making a big step up to the Championship, and Phil Parkinson may be in the market for more creativity in the final third.
The Championship fixture list emerged last week and immediately hammered home the challenge Wrexham face at this level.
Wrexham open the season against Southampton as Phil Parkinson takes on new Saints boss Will Still on the south coast.
Wrexham will hope to have more signings on board by the time the Championship season begins, with a creative midfielder surely on the radar.
We all know the quality Elliot Lee can provide, but he has struggled to find his best form in 2025.
Another attacking midfielder may be wanted, and a new name has emerged amid rumours that Tom Cairney won’t be signing for Wrexham.

Bobby Clark linked with Wrexham move
Wrexham are interested in signing Owen Beck from Liverpool, with the left wing-back a target after his loan spell at Blackburn Rovers.
Alongside a current Liverpool talent, Wrexham may also look to add a player sold by the Reds just a year ago.
Liverpool reporter DaveOCKOP claims Wrexham are interested in signing Bobby Clark from Red Bull Salzburg this summer.
It’s added that Rangers, Sunderland and Chicago Fire are also keen on signing Clark, with Eintracht Frankfurt, Koln, Hamburg, Leicester City, West Bromwich Albion, Birmingham City, Southampton, Slovan Bratislava, Al-Ettifaq, FC Copenhagen, Red Star Belgrade, and Al-Wahda mentioned too.
That is an enormous list of clubs, with Clark’s potential availability sparking a scramble for his signature.
20-year-old Clark is the son of former Newcastle United midfielder Lee Clark, and he started in the Magpies ranks before joining Liverpool.
Clark played 14 times for Liverpool’s first team under Jurgen Klopp, catching the eye as he helped the Reds win the EFL Cup final against Chelsea in 2024.
Red Bull Salzburg signed Clark last summer, and sporting director Bernhard Seonbuchner told the club’s official website that the playmaker has ‘enormous potential’.
Wrexham can rescue Bobby Clark from Red Bull Salzburg nightmare
Clark joined Red Bull Salzburg for £10million last summer, as noted by BBC Sport, as he followed Pepijn Lijnders to Austria.
The pair worked together at Liverpool, and this appeared to be the perfect move for Clark to play regularly under a familiar coach and develop his game.
Instead, the move has not worked out at all, with Clark watching on as Lijnders suffered the sack in December.
Clark has struggled for action ever since, first enduring a thigh injury before selection issues limited him to just one minute of league action in the final eight games of the season.
Red Bull Salzburg even left Clark out of their Club World Cup squad, highlighting that he really needs to leave this summer.
Wrexham can save Clark by offering him a move to the STōK Cae Ras, where he would surely play a key role under Parkinson and play a part in something truly special.
The move abroad hasn’t worked out for Clark, but joining Wrexham either on loan or permanently would surely bring a positive feeling back to his game.
Competition for Clark is fierce, but Wrexham have something unique under Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds and can certainly challenge for his signature this summer.
