Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson is looking to sign a new midfielder this summer, but one international star won’t be joining the Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds project.
July is now just hours away, and Wrexham will be looking to really accelerate in the summer transfer window.
Phil Parkinson has completed just one signing so far this summer, with striker Ryan Hardie joining Wrexham from Plymouth Argyle.
Departures were the theme of last week as Paul Mullin joined Wigan Athletic on loan and Will Boyle signed for Shrewsbury Town.
The attention will now turn back to incomings, with free agent goalkeeper Danny Ward undergoing a medical with Wrexham ahead of a homecoming move.
Parkinson is also chasing a mystery signing, calling in help from Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds to get the deal over the line.

Wrexham-linked Ryan Teague heading to Belgium
A midfielder is likely to be on the Wrexham radar, even though Andy Cannon is on his way back from injury.
Reports from Australia earlier in the summer window suggested that Wrexham were eyeing Australian international Ryan Teague.
Teague currently plays for Melbourne Victory, who will face Wrexham in a pre-season friendly this summer.
Teague could have been given the chance to impress Parkinson this summer, but he is now on the verge of leaving Melbourne Victory – and his destination is not Wrexham.
Belgian newspaper Gazet van Antwerpen report that Teague is on the verge of signing for KV Mechelen.
Teague is expected to undergo a medical with the Belgian side imminently, with the report claiming that the transfer has been ‘secured’.
A move to Wrexham can now be ruled out, as the wait for a first overseas signing in the Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds era goes on.
Wrexham looking elsewhere in midfield
Parkinson cooled speculation around Teague over the weekend, possibly aware that he would be heading to Belgium anyway.
A midfielder still appears to be a focus for Wrexham, with Parkinson seeking to add quality to his engine room.
Reports claim Wrexham could splash the cash on Lewis O’Brien, with a club-record deal required for the Nottingham Forest misfit.
O’Brien is a proven Championship player from spells with Huddersfield Town, Middlesbrough and Swansea City and would be an instant-impact player for Wrexham.
Lewis Travis is also on Wrexham’s radar, though rumours around the Blackburn Rovers captain have gone a little quiet in recent days.
Wrexham fancy Stuart Armstrong after his Sheffield Wednesday exit, and we may see some activity in this area with Teague now crossed off the list.
