It’s been a busy week for Wrexham, but they look set to add yet another new player to their ranks as links to a South American talent emerge.
After a slow start to the summer, Wrexham have splashed the cash and drastically improved their squad over the last week.
With George Thomason arriving from Bolton Wanderers, Josh Windass signing on a free, and Lewis O’Brien joining in a bumper £5m deal, the Red Dragons now look far better prepared for the new season.
Phil Parkinson could be getting another midfielder soon, though, with a fresh report claiming Wrexham are now looking at South America for their next signing.

Wrexham spending could continue with Colombian ace
While it’s unclear whether a deal can be completed, we’ll not get ahead of ourselves and announce the next Wrexham signing this summer. However, Alan Nixon seems to think the Red Dragons are keen on Colombian ace Juan Portilla.
In a report on Patreon, Nixon says Wrexham are looking to sign the “hard man” in their latest “big money splash”. It is thought a deal worth £4m could get the signing over the line.
Apparently, Wrexham have already made contact with Portilla, who has earned three caps for the Colombian national team, and he is said to be keen to move to the EFL.
His current team, Talleres in Argentina, have rebuffed offers from Brazilian sides already this summer, but could now be ready to sanction a transfer to Wrexham.

Juan Portilla could help Wrexham crack South American market
Juan Portilla is a tough-tackling, combative central midfielder who could add real fire and bite to the Wrexham squad.
He made 20 appearances for Talleres, has won the Campeon Supercopa Internacional with his club, and featured for his country three times in 2024.
Obviously, his playing talents are the most important thing, but Portilla could be a huge boost for Rob Mac and Ryan Reynolds’ plans for world domination at Wrexham, too.
We already know the USA is fascinated by Wrexham, while the recent tour of Australia may have generated around £30m for the Red Dragons thanks to their impressive commercial strategy.
With a South American talent on board, Wrexham’s pre-season tour for 2026 may already be obvious.
