Wrexham missed out on signing Marc Leonard last summer but Birmingham City may now allow the midfielder to leave on loan.
Wrexham are set for another busy summer transfer window as Phil Parkinson looks to make a big impact in the Championship.
Last summer saw Wrexham bring in eight new signings as Arthur Okonkwo, Callum Burton, Lewis Brunt, Dan Scarr, Sebastian Revan, George Dobson, Ollie Rathbone and Modou Faal arrived.
Parkinson can expect a similarly busy window this summer, as Wrexham need reinforcements after another promotion.
Midfielders have been linked, with Tom Cairney believed to be a Wrexham target and Lewis O’Brien on the STōK Cae Ras radar.

Former Wrexham target Marc Leonard available from Birmingham City
One midfielder Wrexham looked at last summer is Marc Leonard.
Wrexham wanted to sign Leonard from Brighton and Hove Albion, having impressed on loan in two years at Northampton Town.
Birmingham City won the race for Leonard, securing the Scot on a permanent basis.
Parkinson later suggested that Birmingham signed Wrexham targets over the summer, with Leonard surely being chief among them.
Leonard started 14 League One games last season and came on in another 21, ultimately dipping in and out of the Blues side.
Reporter Pete O’Rourke now claims that Birmingham are willing to loan Leonard out ahead of the new season.
Birmingham – much like Wrexham – are aiming for the Premier League in the near future and are expected to spend again this summer.
Leonard may find himself heading out this summer, with Birmingham potentially looking for him to play regularly elsewhere.
Wrexham pivoted to Ollie Rathbone after missing out on Leonard, and Parkinson can feel pretty happy with how that panned out.
Rathbone became a Wrexham fan favourite with a superb campaign, contributing goals and energy in droves.
It all worked out for Wrexham in the end, with Rathbone proving to be an inspired signing as Leonard considers spending next season away from Birmingham.
Wrexham unlikely to return for Marc Leonard
Wrexham’s admiration for Leonard a year ago may leave some fans wondering whether Parkinson could reignite that interest.
A move for Leonard this summer would be a surprise, though, and we would raise the name of Jamie Lindsay here.
Lindsay was a top Wrexham target late in the January 2024 transfer window, but a late move fell through.
The Scot departed Rotherham United at the end of the season, but Wrexham chose not to reignite that interest.
Lindsay joined Bristol Rovers and struggled to make a big impact as the Pirates suffered relegation from League One.
This Wrexham project is moving forward so quickly that targets from six months to a year ago may no longer be on the radar.
Wrexham went from targeting Lindsay to signing Rathbone and George Dobson within months.
Similarly, Wrexham may overlook Leonard and focus on the likes of Cairney and O’Brien, who have proven themselves at a higher level.
Leonard showed off his talent at Northampton and made sense for Wrexham last summer, but maybe not quite so much this time around.
