Wrexham are looking into a number of avenues in the market in a bid to mould a competitive squad for the Championship.

Phil Parkinson has called for patience from fans as he carefully considers which targets will be best to bring into his Wrexham squad.

There have already been departures as Steven Fletcher and Mark Howard were released but Humphrey Ker has highlighted Arthur Okonkwo as a player he sees staying at the Racecourse Ground for years.

Wrexham are interested in signing Aaron Cresswell from West Ham but another defensive transfer target’s future could now hold confusion following an imminent managerial departure.

Plymouth manager Miron Muslic to leave club

Wrexham are interested in signing Maksym Talovierov this summer after the defender impressed during his recent spell in the Championship with Plymouth Argyle.

Talovierov was described as ‘mature’ by his former club and has caught the eye during the second half of the campaign with his aggression and tenacity in his defending.

However, there has been a twist to his future after his manager Miron Muslic is set to depart Plymouth in favour of a move to German side Schalke.

As per talkSPORT, Plymouth are unhappy with the talks and believed that Muslic was committed to gaining promotion from League One next season.

Plymouth’s statement read: “Despite regular communication since the end of the season, and no mention of any issues, Miron has now made it clear that, after extended periods away from his family, this opportunity provides him the chance to be closer to them after four years on the road,” the statement read.

“We are frustrated by this decision, having implemented clear structures, processes and personnel to aid Miron and his coaching staff as we look to return to the Sky Bet Championship at the earliest opportunity.

“Not only that, the club have also moved quickly to bring in new signings and received repeated verbal promises from Miron that he was committed to Argyle and would do everything to help the club bounce back to the second tier.”

What Miron Muslic said about Maksym Talovierov upon joining Plymouth

Talovierov signed for Plymouth during the January transfer window from Austrian outfit LASK and upon his arrival in English football, Muslic was full of praise for the Ukrainian international and fellow new signing Nikola Katic.

As per BBC Sport, Muslic stated: “They’re [Talovierov & Katic] top professionals, top, top guys. A big improvement already in the locker room because those guys are arriving first at 08:30, so it forced the other guys to come a little bit early.

“Those guys are the first in the gym, are the last to leave the gym after training, so they’re raising the bar on the pitch and they’re raising the bar off the pitch, so I’m very, very happy with both signings.

It remains to be seen whether Muslic’s departure has any impact on Wrexham’s pursuit of the 24-year-old defender but Parkinson will be hoping that he can add more options to his back line during the window.
