Wrexham are chasing a new striker in the January transfer window and one huge name has been linked.
The January transfer window is here and Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson may hope for movement over the next week.
Parkinson tends to leave his business late but Wrexham’s clash with Port Vale was postponed on Tuesday night.
That means Wrexham will have had nearly two weeks without a game by the time Parkinson leads his side into battle against Shrewsbury Town next week.
Fans will hope that transfers take the priority with no game to focus on in the coming days and one position appears to be a priority.
Reports back in November highlighted that Wrexham want to sign a proven Championship striker with Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds ready to spend.

Wycombe Wanderers star on Wrexham transfer rumour
So many names have been linked with Wrexham but one piece of speculation stands above the rest.
Reports in December highlighted that Wrexham are interested in signing Patrick Bamford from Leeds United.
Wages may be a problem for Wrexham but Bamford is struggling for first-team action at Leeds.
The 31-year-old hasn’t even started a Championship game this season and may need to leave Elland Road.
A deal for Bamford would send shockwaves through League One and Wycombe Wanderers ace Sam Vokes has offered his view.
Wycombe are battling Wrexham in the League One promotion race and Vokes actually played alongside Bamford at Burnley.
Speaking on Feast of Football, Vokes believes that Bamford would provide ‘Premier League quality’ if Wrexham dig deep for his signature.
Vokes noted that Bamford’s move to Burnley didn’t really work out but he has gone on to become a star elsewhere.
Vokes has promotion hopes of his own and whilst he may hope that Bamford doesn’t make the move, he thinks it’s an ‘interesting’ rumour to keep an eye on.
“I did see that, yes, that was an interesting one,” said Vokes. “Wrexham looking to put their hands in their pockets again, I’m sure.
“He’s been doing very well in recent years, obviously not playing as much at Leeds at the moment but he’s had a great career.
“He came to us at Burnley on loan from Chelsea and, to be honest, it didn’t really work out too well for him but he’s done very well in his time.
“That will be an interesting one – Premier League quality down at Wrexham possibly,” he added.
Patrick Bamford’s last League One season
Bamford has been a prominent goalscorer ever since joining Leeds from Middlesbrough back in 2018.
17 goals in the 2020-21 Premier League season saw Bamford earn an England cap but his career has taken a turn since then.
Bamford has only managed 14 league goals in his last 80 league games for Leeds with injuries and competition for places ultimately diminishing his impact.
Spending big money on Bamford would be a risk at this stage in his career but Parkinson would be looking for a huge impact in League One.
Bamford has previously played 37 games in League One having enjoyed two loan spells at Milton Keynes Dons.
Bamford – across the 2012-13 and 2013-14 seasons – hit 18 goals in 37 appearances for the Dons.
Wrexham may have to accept that Bamford isn’t quite the same athlete as he was back then, but the quality to score goals in League One may still be there.
