Wrexham are expected to have a busy 2025 summer transfer window as they prepare for the Championship.

The Red Dragons have already been linked with several players prior to their 2024/25 season ending.

A transfer for Jamie Vardy after he confirmed he would be leaving Leicester City next month was discussed.

Fans commented on Jonny Evans to Wrexham rumours this week, with many of the opinion that it would be a good deal.

In recent months, meanwhile, it has been suggested that Tom Lawrence could sign on a free when his deal with Rangers runs out.

The 2025 summer transfer window is not yet open, but it does look set to be a busy few months in Wales.

BBC pundit backs Wrexham for big summer amid Premier League goal

On this front, former footballer Jobi McAnuff has been discussing the Red Dragons and their ambition moving forward.

Co-owner Rob McElhenney wants Premier League football for Wrexham at some point in the future.

Now, McAnuff has suggested, when speaking on the BBC’s 72+ EFL podcast this week, that the club will already have plans in place to help their goal of reaching the Premier League.

He added that he’s ‘sure’ Wrexham ‘will go big again’ in 2025/26.

McAnuff stated: “I can only go by what they’ve done so far and it’s been phenomenal, and they would have been planning for this and I think the really interesting thing is we all know the ambition is Premier League it isn’t even just the Championship so they will have things in place for next year already

“Again we’ve seen, I said about it with Birmingham City, you only have to look at the likes of Paul Mullin, not been in recently, Ollie Palmer, that have done a job to a point and then it’s like ‘right thank you very much, you know you’ve done great for us, now we need to get to that next level’.

“But it’s again how you go about that, being respectful, making sure that you sort of paying your dues along the way, and we all know it’s the game so they will take it to another level.  You only have to look at the players they have signed this season. They will go big again next year, that’s for sure.”

How much money could Wrexham spend

If they are going to make a push for promotion once more this season, it’s clear a lot of money will need to be spent.

Wrexham’s wage outlay compared to the top Championship teams is pretty small right now, though that is expected to change.

The club will quadruple their wage bill in the second tier – something that was already decided before promotion was even confirmed.

And their increased revenue means Wrexham could have £40m or so to spend in the 2025/26 season.
