Billy Waters sends message as Wrexham return confirmed, but he surely won’t be back for long

Wrexham are looking to bring in a new striker but Phil Parkinson has seen one forward make a return to the STōK Cae Ras.

The January transfer window is here but Wrexham have been quiet so far.

There have been no new signings at the STōK Cae Ras and outgoing business has been slow as well.

Phil Parkinson likes to leave his January business late and Wrexham fans may need to be patient this month.

Wrexham are in the market for another striker though with Parkinson yet to confirm a decision either way on Jon Dadi Bodvarsson.

Most speculation is surrounding potential striking additions but Parkinson now has a returning forward to deal with this month.

Billy Waters returns to Wrexham

Wrexham have loaned a handful of strikers out with three players currently in action away from the club.

Jake Bickerstaff has been in limbo at Altrincham and Sam Dalby’s future has been under the microscope after his goalscoring exploits at Dundee United.

The third man in that mix is Billy Waters as Wrexham sent him on loan to former club Halifax Town.

Wrexham resurrected Waters’ move to Halifax on deadline day, seemingly keen to shift him out on loan.

The 2023 signing from Barrow has simply made no impact at Wrexham and needs to move on.

Halifax were hoping to see Waters stay with the forward’s loan deal expiring this week.

Those hopes have been demolished though as Halifax have confirmed that Waters has now returned to Wrexham.

Waters has taken to social media himself, telling Halifax fans that he has loved every moment of his return to the club.

‘Thank you everything,’ said Waters. ‘Loved every moment of being back,’ he added.

Phil Parkinson cannot pick Billy Waters

Waters now returns to Wrexham with his future up in the air.

Social media links to Oldham Athletic have yet to be substantiated and, as things stand, Waters is available for selection against Shrewsbury Town on Thursday.

We can’t imagine that Waters will actually be involved though and Phil Parkinson just can’t afford to play him.

Waters playing even a minute for Wrexham would rule out a move elsewhere as he can’t play for three clubs in one season.

Wrexham will surely keep Waters out of any first-team action to pave the way for a move elsewhere with other National League sides no doubt interested.
