League Two boss sends plea to Phil Parkinson, jokes about wanting to sign Wrexham players in January window

The January transfer window is open and Wrexham fans will be focused on potential incomings – but some players may move on too.

Wrexham sit third in the League One table having beaten Peterborough United 1-0 on Saturday afternoon.

2025 started with a defeat at Barnsley but Wrexham hit back brilliantly to secure a late victory over Peterborough United.

Wrexham’s trip to Port Vale was postponed on Tuesday and with this weekend’s trip to Reading already off, Wrexham don’t play again until next Thursday.

That means the focus over the next week may well be January transfers with the window well and truly open.

Wrexham want another striker this month but Phil Parkinson may need to consider some outgoings too.

League Two boss sends Wrexham message

Wrexham have a number of fringe players who don’t have key roles this season and may well seek more game time elsewhere.

We have no doubt that other managers in the EFL will have been calling Parkinson to ask about potential deals.

Bromley boss Andy Woodman has taken a slightly different approach though.

Woodman offered some words on Wrexham’s official YouTube channel whilst congratulating Parkinson on reaching 1000 games in management.

Woodman mirrored Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds’s praise for Parkinson having previously worked together at Charlton Athletic.

The former goalkeeper then joked that he would like Parkinson to send some of his players to Bromley in this transfer window, suggesting that his side need as much help as possible.

“I was lucky enough to be involved in some of those games at Charlton with you as a manager and obviously enjoyed my time – listen, congratulations mate,” said Woodman.

“Lastly, could we have some of your players that you don’t want no more; drip them down to us, because we need all the help we can get!” he added.

Who could leave Wrexham in January?

Parkinson won’t want to seriously weaken the Wrexham squad this month, especially with a promotion push in mind.

That means key players such as Arthur Okonkwo, Max Cleworth and Ryan Barnett will be absolutely off-limits this month.

Others may be available though with Parkinson no doubt realistic about the playing time of some fringe players.

Will Boyle fits the bill with the defender unlikely to force his way back into a key role this season.

Luke Bolton almost left Wrexham over the summer and could be available again whilst Anthony Forde may need first-team chances elsewhere.

Jon Dadi Bodvarsson may go with his contract expiring this month whilst Jacob Mendy and James Jones may attract some interest after bit-part roles this season.

Whether Bromley want any of those players remains to be seen but Wrexham may well receive offers for some of Parkinson’s squad players.
