One incoming Wrexham signing has been given a glorious review by one EFL expert, and has suggested that Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac’s backing has helped them attain a Premier League-level player.

Wrexham are showing no signs of slowing down in the summer transfer window, despite already spending a significant amount of money.

Phil Parkinson has been handed a large transfer budget by Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac, and has since gone on a spending spree.

The latest player who looks set to join up with the squad at the Racecourse Ground is Man City defender Callum Doyle.

The 21-year-old is set to be a massive signing for Wrexham, and that has been highlighted by one EFL expert who is particularly excited to see Doyle play for the Red Dragons this season.

Incoming Wrexham signing Callum Doyle labelled as a ‘smart’ purchase

Callum Doyle has been spotted at Wrexham amid reports that a deal had been done to sign the defender, so an announcement looks set to be imminent from the club.

The deal to sign Doyle took many by surprise because of the quality he has shown at Championship level, and the fact that he is a young player with plenty of potential.

Wrexham supporters’ excitement over the signing has been backed up by the verdict given by EFL expert Justin Peach, who has suggested that the youngster would not look out of place in the Premier League.

Via the Second Tier Podcast, Peach said: “This is probably the move that would impress me the most from any side in the championship if you can go and get a 21-year-old player who’s got experience with England U21s, has won tournaments with England U19s, and is very highly rated.

“To sign him for any Wrexham amount of money is an incredible move. So for him to go to Wrexham, no disrespect to Wrexham, but it’s a project that’s very early on, especially in the Championship.

“I’d have expected Callum Doyle to go to a Premier League club, potentially, or a high-spending club that comes down from the Premier League. So for Wrexham to go and get him, I think it is really good business. It’s big money, but it’s smart money. Callum Doyle has the attributes to be a huge success.”

Callum Doyle has learned from a footballing great

Wrexham signing Callum Doyle has accumulated an incredible wealth of experience from such a young age, particularly in the Championship, where he has accumulated 98 appearances.

However, Doyle thinks fondly of his time at Man City, where he has not been able to find himself in the first-team side, but has still managed to work under the stewardship of Pep Guardiola.

Speaking about his ‘dreams’ of working under Guardiola, via the Man City website, Doyle said: “It’s everyone’s dream really [to work with Guardiola]. He’s amazing, I’ll just take what he gives,” he explained.

“It will be great working with very good players again. Learning from them and gaining their experience and using it in my game. It will be great and great to see the lads.

“[I’ll] take it as it comes. With what I had last season [on loan at Leicester], working with different range of players and kind of knowing what they’re like in the game – I think it just goes off feel.

“Obviously there are great players here I’d like to work with, so I’d just like to see [where I’m at in my development].”

Wrexham owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac have done astonishingly well to acquire Doyle this summer, and he is one of many arrivals who show the clear ambition of the club.
