Wrexham are potentially just one game away from a third-straight promotion. But the Dragons have a really tough one coming up next.
Wrexham host Charlton Athletic on Saturday in what could be the game that seals a third-straight promotion for owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, and just in time for the new series of Welcome to Wrexham as well.
Phil Parkinson’s side returned to winning was on Monday. Wrexham beat Blackpool 2-1 away from home with goals from James McClean and Ollie Rathbone sealing the win, and setting themselves up for a crunch match with 4th place Charlton Athletic on Saturday.
Parkinson sensed Wycombe Wanderers were losing against Charlton during the game on Monday, and that they did, emphatically so with the Addicks winning the game 4-0, even ending the game with 10 men.
Nathan Jones’ Charlton Athletic could set themselves up for a 2nd place finish on the final day of the season if they beat Wrexham at the Racecourse on Saturday.

Humphrey Ker’s message to Wrexham fans ahead of Charlton Athletic
Humphrey Ker, now community director at Wrexham, posted on X after the result against Blackpool. Wrexham fans are often critical of Parkinson but Ker has urged supporters to get behind the boss ahead of Saturday, insisting that he’ll deliver the goods if he has the backing of fans.
Ker played a key role in the Wrexham takeover of 2021 and now he’s determined to see the club become a Championship one with what would be an astonishing third-straight promotion for the Dragons.
His message to supporters ahead of Saturday read: “You have your instructions, Reds. No fear, no hedging your bets and avoiding getting excited in case you get disappointed. Get behind this man and his team and they will deliver for you as they have over and over and over again.”
Humphrey Ker shares his disbelief over Phil Parkinson criticism at Wrexham
Throughout the campaign there’s been waves of criticism aimed at Parkinson. Mainly it’s the style of play that fans are concerned about, with certain games leaving a lot to be desired in terms of the fashion and often the result. The Wrexham’s 1-1 draw against Bristol Rovers on Friday for example.
But speaking earlier in the season, Ker condemned criticism of Parkinson at Wrexham. And he’s now echoed the same kind of mantra: it can’t be denied that a third-straight promotion for Parkinson would be an exceptional achievement.
Getting past an in form Charlton side will be tough. But at the Racecourse and in front of the Sky Sports cameras, many will back the Dragons to deliver another whirlwind memory in their incredible journey.
