Wrexham had a number of players that enjoyed real purple patches during the course of their League One promotion campaign.
Dan Scarr was lauded by fans for his cameo performances in the final three games of the season, whilst Arthur Okonkwo also excelled during the promotion run-in.
Jack Marriott had the opposite spell after he started the season on fire scoring five goals in ten games before suffering a significant injury that hampered the rest of his campaign.
Speaking on the latest episode of ‘Welcome to Wrexham’, the striker has revealed the true reason why he decided to sign for the club back in January 2024.

Jack Marriott reveals real reason behind signing for Wrexham
Marriott signed a contract extension at Wrexham back in January 2025 to keep him at the Racecourse Ground until 2026.
He originally joined from Fleetwood Town a year earlier and on the latest episode of the documentary series, the forward has revealed the real reason behind signing for the Red Dragons.
Marriott stated: “When I heard of Wrexham’s interest, it was a no-brainer. The ambition of this club, to move up the leagues, is something I couldn’t turn down.”
The 30-year-old went on to score six goals in 26 appearances in League One this season and is now eyeing a return to full fitness and form ahead of the upcoming Championship challenge.
Jack Marriott’s Championship record
Marriott is happy with his squad role currently under Phil Parkinson and is a player that has previous experience of the second tier.
The forward has played for the likes of Derby, Peterborough and Sheffield Wednesday in the Championship and that experience could be a factor in him being retained this summer.
| Jack Marriott’s Championship record | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
| Marriott | 111 | 19 | 9 |
Parkinson praised Marriott earlier this season for his attitude and commitment despite not featuring as much as he would like upon return from injury.
It is that team ethic that could see Marriott retained as part of Wrexham’s 25-man squad for next season and would provide the manager with a tremendous option from the bench once again.
