Wrexham have announced a number of departures from the club as they prepare to build their squad ahead of next season.
Steven Fletcher’s Wrexham departure was confirmed alongside Jordan Davies as the Red Dragons begin to trim their squad for the 25-man restriction.
Parkinson feels ‘sorry’ for Davies following his exit from Wrexham after enduring a torrid season on loan at Grimsby Town with injuries.
Rob McElhenney sent a heartfelt message to Mark Howard after the 38-year-old goalkeeper was also among those released and Parkinson has now broken his silence on the former Wrexham star.

Phil Parkinson breaks silence on Mark Howard’s Wrexham departure
Speaking to the Leader, the Wrexham manager has broken his silence upon releasing Howard to mark the end of his three-year spell at the club.
Parkinson stated: “Mark left Carlisle three years ago to come on board with us in the National League and he has made a good contribution over the last three seasons, both on and off the pitch,
“None more so than this season when he was called upon and showed a very consistent level of performance. But with the numbers and the goalkeepers counting in the squad, it makes it difficult and Mark wants to carry on playing.
“I think he’s got a taste of playing after playing so well this year and he wants to have an opportunity if someone has got a role somewhere. I had a great chat with Mark, he is another really good lad and we wish him all the best.”
Howard’s Championship prediction for Wrexham is that he feels the club will continue to use their ‘momentum’ and push on once again next season.
A new chapter looms however for the goalkeeper himself but he departs the Red Dragons with nothing but positivity following his time in North Wales.
Phil Parkinson reveals reason behind Brad Foster and Liam Hall departures
Brad Foster and Liam Hall were also released by Wrexham at the end of their contracts and Parkinson has explained the reason behind the departure of the goalkeeping duo.
Parkinson explained: “Brad is unlucky because he has done nothing but impress us in training, He is going to be a good goalkeeper but unfortunately he is 23. For himself, Brad needs to go and play men’s football now. I explained that to him and he totally gets that.
“He [Liam Hall] is another one, like Brad, where you can only be that training ground goalkeeper for so long before you start making your own mark as a goalkeeper somewhere.”
Parkinson has said more players will leave this summer with doubts growing over the futures of Paul Mullin and Ollie Palmer as the boss tries to mould a competitive Championship outfit.
