Wrexham fans are coming to terms with the latest departure from the club.

After Steven Fletcher’s emotional departure alongside Mark Howard and Jordan Davies, the latest player to leave the club this summer is Paul Mullin.

Mullin has joined Wigan Athletic on a season-long loan after falling down the pecking order under manager Phil Parkinson.

Ryan Reynolds has sent a heartfelt message to Mullin upon his departure and captain James McClean has now followed.

James McClean sends message to Paul Mullin upon Wrexham exit

Wrexham fans are devastated over Mullin’s exit after the striker banged in 105 goals during a four-year spell at the Racecourse Ground.

A loan move does not necessarily mean the end for Mullin at Wrexham however, it is difficult to see him pulling on a red shirt ever again.

Skipper McClean has taken to his Instagram story to send a message of support for the Wigan-bound man and has encouraged Mullin to find his form once again.

McClean wrote: “All the best mate, rip it up,” alongside an image of Mullin applauding his adoring fans during the club’s League One promotion celebrations.

Paul Mullin reveals James McClean conversation before Wigan move

McClean made 171 appearances for Wigan over the course of two spells at the club and became a fan favourite with 23 goals and 27 assists.

Mullin revealed a conversation with McClean before his loan move to the Latics and revealed that his former Wrexham teammate left him ‘even more excited’ to join.

Mullin explained: “He [McClean] was basically just telling me how good the club is and how much I’ll love it, and that it will be a good fit for me.

“Obviously, I’d already agreed to it, but when he said that, it made me just that little bit more at ease and even more excited to start.”
