Wrexham will be looking to get their promotion charge back on track when they travel to Blackpool on Easter Monday.

The Red Dragons kicked off their Easter weekend at the Racecourse Ground, taking on a side who had lost their previous six League One fixtures.

However, Wrexham drew 1-1 with Bristol Rovers on April 18, and have now been handed a blow in the promotion race.

Wycombe Wanderers emerged victorious from their fixture on Friday, seeing them overtake the Welsh outfit in the League One table.

There are now just three games of the 2024/25 season remaining, and Phil Parkinson’s men have a one-point gap to overturn.

Wrexham will need to replace Eoghan O’Connell after his injury against Rovers when they make the trip to Blackpool on Monday.

But it’s not just being without a star player that should have them concerned right now.

Blackpool home record ahead of Wrexham visit

Wrexham beat Blackpool 2-1 at the Racecourse Ground in the reverse fixture earlier this season.

However, the Seasiders have improved a great deal in recent months and now sit 10th in the League One table.

They have won four of their last five and remain in with a real chance of securing a place in the play-offs.

To make matters worse for Wrexham, Blackpool have a simply remarkable record when playing at Bloomfield Road.

They lost 2-1 to current sixth-place side Leyton Orient on home soil back on March 15, 2025, but barring that result, they have not been defeated in the league at their own ground since October 19, 2024, when they were bested by Barnsley.

What Phil Parkinson has said about Blackpool

Wrexham go into the meeting with Blackpool having dropped four points in two games to teams in the bottom half of the table.

Fans want Paul Mullin and Ollie Palmer to return to the side, while Parkinson says Wrexham players must be positive vs Blackpool next week.

Speaking to the media post-match on April 18, he said: “It’s not a lack of effort. Maybe the expectancy weighed heavily on us today.

“But we’ve got to take that off our shoulders, we really have, and we’ve got to go and just play and just go to Blackpool and be really positive in everything we do.

“And, just of course, just this disappointed we didn’t get all three points.”
