It has finally happened, Ollie Palmer has now left Wrexham on a permanent basis.

Ollie Palmer was signed by the Red Dragons from AFC Wimbledon in January 2022.

After falling out of favour with Phil Parkinson in 2024/25, however, his future in North Wales came into question.

Multiple teams wanted to sign Palmer this summer, but it was Swindon Town who won the race.

Swindon confirmed the capture of the Wrexham striker on a two-year deal in an official statement on Friday afternoon.

Why Ollie Palmer left Wrexham for Swindon

Now, in his first interview as a Swindon player, the 33-year-old has opened up on why he decided to make the switch.

When doing so, he spoke about Swindon’s ambition and how a conversation with their manager really helped sell the club to him.

Speaking to his new team’s official website, he said: “I’m really excited to sign for a club of Swindon’s stature.

“The ambition here is clear, and I want to play my part in helping the team push up the table and compete for promotion. I’m looking forward to meeting the lads, working with the Manager, and getting started in front of the fans at the County Ground.

“When I spoke with the Manager, his vision for the club really stood out. The way Swindon finished last season shows what this team is capable of, and I can’t wait to be a part of it.”

Ollie Palmer could clash with former Wrexham star

After his transfer was confirmed on Friday, Palmer could be in action in less than 24 hours’ time.

Swindon are set to take on Crewe Alexandra in a League Two meeting at 12:30pm BST on August 30.

If that does happen, Palmer could take on Louis Moult, who is now plying his trade with Crewe.

He spent one season at Wrexham, scoring 23 goals in 51 games for the Dragons.
