Ollie Palmer has just produced one of his best performances in a Wrexham shirt for some time.
The 33-year-old was somewhat unexpectedly named as a substitute for the Welsh side’s Carabao Cup meeting with Hull City on Tuesday.
His inclusion in the squad came less than a week after Phil Parkinson suggested Ollie Palmer will leave Wrexham in the ongoing transfer window.
However, after being brought off the bench with his side in desperate need of goals, the number 35 more than took his chance to impress.
Wrexham fans raved about Palmer after he managed to score his first brace since 2023, putting the home side back on level terms.
The Hull fixture went to penalties as a result of the striker’s efforts, with Parkinson and Co. going on to secure a 5-3 win in the shootout.

Conor Coady and Kieffer Moore messages to Ollie Palmer
Following the clash, a number of Wrexham players sent messages to Palmer in the comments section of a social media post.
Elsewhere on the night, two of the club’s recent signings made their feelings on his display clear.
Conor Coady watched on at the Racecourse Ground for the first time and wrote in an Instagram story: “My 1st experience of this place and it did not disappoint… Big Paz man @ollieP9_”.
Elsewhere, Kieffer Moore quoted a video of Palmer in action against Hull with two clapping and two fire emojis, also tagging the striker.

Ollie Palmer may earn chance to stay at Wrexham
As already mentioned, Parkinson said last week that Palmer was looking to move on.
However, that was prior to the Southampton fixture, in which Moore suffered an injury.
The full extent of the striker’s issue is not yet known, and he could be sidelined for several games.
Moore excelled on his debut, taking up the ‘big man’ role in Wrexham’s attack, which had previously belonged to Palmer.
After two goals against Hull and Moore likely to be out of action this weekend, though, there is a chance Palmer could once again feature against West Brom.
If he does and performs well again, maybe Parkinson will change his stance on a summer exit.
