Wrexham picked up a big win on Tuesday night but Phil Parkinson’s attention will have already turned to this weekend’s trip to Burton Albion.

Wrexham took to the pitch for a third straight home game as Barnsley arrived at the STōK Cae Ras on Tuesday night.

After beating Exeter City and Lincoln City, Wrexham were seeking a third home win in a row – but left it late.

Wrexham appeared to be on the verge of a 0-0 draw before Ollie Rathbone strode forward and struck the killer blow.

Fans inside the STōK Cae Ras went wild as Wrexham made it three wins and three clean sheets in a row with a dramatic late strike.

Rob McElhenney and Danny DeVito also celebrated in Los Angeles with Wrexham closing the gap to Wycombe Wanderers at the top of League One.

Ollie Rathbone sends warning to Wrexham teammates

Phil Parkinson has to be delighted with how his side battled away and didn’t let up, securing a big win in the process.

The League One schedule is relentless though and Wrexham have another game to focus on after the euphoria of Tuesday’s win.

Wrexham are back on the road this weekend, travelling to take on struggling Burton Albion away from home.

The Brewers sit second-bottom of the League One table and only moved off bottom spot with a shock win away at Peterborough United this week.

Wrexham will be heavy favourites for this game but anybody can beat anybody and Parkinson must be wary of a nasty away surprise.

That is the message from midfielder Ollie Rathbone too as he sent a strong message to his teammates.

Rathbone has been praised by Parkinson and has now told BBC Sport that all the pressure is on Wrexham because Burton can treat the game as a ‘free hit’.

Rathbone noted that this is the pressure Wrexham must live with but warned his teammates that Burton may find the game a little easier because they have nothing to lose.

“All the pressure is on us,” Rathbone said. “They will see it as a bit of a free hit probably which can be dangerous. That pressure is part of the attraction of playing for this club – it’s an honour to have it.

“I think a lot of players at mid-table clubs would do anything to be trying to compete for promotion and be second in the league in December. I have played for teams who have been at the bottom of the league.

“When teams at the top of the league come to town it sometimes can be easier. You feel like you can go and have a good go it,” he added.

Wrexham must arrest away day issues

Wrexham head to the Pirelli Stadium with fans expecting a win but away trips have been difficult for Parkinson and co this season.

Away form has been poor for Wrexham for most of the season and Parkinson has found just one win on the road since the end of August.

Wrexham have been almost perfect at home but rank 13th in the League One table in terms of points on the road.

Burton have struggled badly this season and whilst they will be on a high after beating Peterborough, Wrexham have to really go and attack this game.

This is a chance for Wrexham to answer some critics for the away form and back up three home wins in a row with a big away day victory.
