Wrexham decided to send Paul Mullin out on loan to Wigan Athletic during the 2025/26 season.

Paul Mullin was axed by Phil Parkinson in 2024/25, not playing in the league after January 28.

He has since linked up with League One outfit Wigan Athletic on a season-long loan deal.

Over the weekend, Wrexham drew 2-2 with Sheffield Wednesday, while Wigan Athletic and Rotherham United’s fixture ended in the same scoreline.

Mullin scored his first League One goal for the Latics in that fixture, coming off the bench to rescue a point.

Paul Mullin stats after leaving Wrexham

After the match, Mullin opened up on his goal, which was his first in the division since January 28.

Wigan boss Ryan Lowe praised the Wrexham loanee for his efforts off the bench as well.

Now, after scoring against Rotherham, Mullin’s per 90 stats in League One this term are looking pretty impressive.

In the league, he has largely been used off the bench by Lowe, but the 30-year-old has made his limited minutes count so far.

Paul Mullin vs Wrexham players

Since Mullin left, Wrexham have added a number of new attackers to their frontline.

Josh Windass is now injured but did start the opening two Championship fixtures of 2025/26.

Nathan Broadhead joined in a club-record transfer from Ipswich Town, which could rise to £10m.

Ryan Hardie has moved from Plymouth Argyle, and Kieffer Moore was signed from Sheffield United.

So far, Moore and Windass are both off the mark in the league, while Broadhead and Hardie are waiting for their first goals.

At present, Mullin is outperforming every current Wrexham player in three areas this season, with the top performer for each stat listed below.

It’s still only early days, of course, but fans should be pleased to see Mullin starting to become more of a threat for Wigan after previously struggling in the third tier last season.
