Wrexham are preparing for a huge clash against Charlton Athletic at the Racecourse Ground.

Wrexham could gain promotion from League One with a victory over Charlton and Wycombe failing to beat Leyton Orient.

Phil Parkinson has echoed Rob McElhenney’s message to supporters to get the Racecourse Ground ‘bouncing’ and Wrexham fans will no doubt deliver on that request.

Nathan Jones called Wrexham a ‘circus’ in the build up to the game and Jobi McAnuff believes momentum is with Charlton but Parkinson has come out swinging in defence of his club.

Phil Parkinson hits back at Nathan Jones comments

Speaking to the Leader, Parkinson has hit back at the Charlton boss by stating that his ‘circus’ comment showed ‘a lack of respect’.

Parkinson stated: “It is a lack of respect to our owners, the team, the staff, the supporters and the heritage of Wrexham Football Club. But we will just concentrate on what we’ve got to do.”

The experienced Red Dragons boss then explained how his team are preparing for a potential season-defining clash in North Wales.

Parkinson explained: “In the performance at Blackpool, you could see a freedom in our play and that’s what we want. If we play in that manner, we will have a great chance of getting the points.

“We are a good side as we have shown over the course of the season. Now it’s just getting everybody ready – physically, tactically and mentally – for what’s going to be a great game.”

Wrexham must keep their discipline in Charlton clash

Wrexham have an exemplary disciplinary record this campaign but have struggled to keep eleven players on the pitch in the past under Parkinson.

The Red Dragons must continue to play with their heads and not their hearts against Charlton in what will be a cauldron of an atmosphere.

It is Charlton who have done much of the pre-match talking and it is Charlton who must win to keep their automatic promotion hopes alive.

Wrexham need to play on that pressure and put them under the cosh in the early exchanges because as we have seen in the past, anything can happen at a packed Racecourse Ground.
