Phil Parkinson has already commented on Wrexham’s plan for Ollie Palmer as striker now shares message

Ollie Palmer has been discussing his Wrexham future this week amid speculation he could leave.

Ollie Palmer was a mainstay at Wrexham for many years following his January 2022 arrival from AFC Wimbledon.

However, the striker fell out of favour under Phil Parkinson at the end of January 2025.

Palmer had transfer interest late in the winter window, and though he did not move, he went on to miss every League One fixture for the club beyond January 28.

He is not the only striker whose future has been called into question, with transfer interest in Paul Mullin emerging.

Palmer and Mullin have been backed to leave Wrexham over the summer, and the former has been commenting on his future this week.

What Phil Parkinson has said about Wrexham’s plan for Ollie Palmer

Palmer has commented on his Wrexham future after missing nearly all of the club’s matches in the second half of 2024/25.

When doing so, he made it clear he wanted to try and stay with the Dragons, saying: “I’m gonna come back, fight for my shirt and get fit, get ready and go again with the football club.”

This stance lines up with what Parkinson has said about Palmer and his future in Wales, at least in the short term.

Speaking at the beginning of May, the manager said both the 33-year-old and Mullin are going to return to the club for pre-season.

He said at the time: “Of course there’s always players who would have liked to have played more. Equally, contributions can come in many forms, so I’m delighted with everybody as a group.

“Mulls and Ollie will always be legends at this club for what they’ve done. They’re under contract next year and they’ll be back in pre-season ready to go again.”

Wrexham need room to sign players

Whether it be Palmer or somebody else, though, Parkinson has admitted Wrexham players will leave this summer.

Now that they are in the Championship, the Dragons are able to register 25 players to compete in the league.

However, unlike League One, goalkeepers must be included, which largely negates the increase in squad size.

Modou Faal and Sebastian Revan have turned 21 as well, meaning Wrexham already have 27 players aged 21 or above without making a single signing.
