Wrexham fans were left fearing the worst on Saturday, as goalkeeper Danny Ward left the pitch on a stretcher during the game against Millwall.
Phil Parkinson’s side picked up their first league win of the season on Saturday. Wrexham beat Millwall 2-0 at The Den with summer signings Kieffer Moore and Lewis O’Brien both on target, with the Dragons now unbeaten in their last three in all competitions.
Last week, Wrexham put their first point on the board with a draw against Sheffield Wednesday before beating Preston in the Carabao Cup in midweek.
After a shaky start, Parkinson’s side seem to be gelling and gathering a bit of momentum. But the injury to Danny Ward put a bit of a dampener on the win at Millwall, with the game stopped for several minutes as Ward received treatment.

Phil Parkinson says Danny Ward is at hospital after Wrexham injury scare
With the game still at 1-0 going into injury time, Ward bravely went out to claim a cross, going into a 50/50 with a Millwall player in the process. Ward landed awkwardly and instantly was in pain. The paramedics came on and after several minutes, Ward was stretchered off in what were some difficult scenes.
Speaking to the press after the game, Parkinson was of course asked for an update on the Welshman. He revealed: “Danny Ward is in hospital getting his elbow scanned.”
This week, Ward was named in the Wales international squad for the September international break, along with Moore and Nathan Broadhead.

Danny Ward may not get back in the Wrexham XI after injury scare
Assuming Ward has done some damage and faces a spell on the sidelines, it could mean that the Welshman faces an uphill battle to get back into the starting XI when he does eventually return.
In the Championship opener against Southampton, Parkinson surprised everyone by starting Ward in goal over Arthur Okonkwo.
Parkinson has since stuck with the more experienced Ward but Okonkwo came off the bench at Millwall and made a really important save late on, and he’ll no doubt start in goal if Ward is injured for a while.
Should Okonkwo come in and prove impressive then Ward may come back as second choice.
Wrexham fans have given mixed opinions on Ward so far this season. He was having a steady game against Millwall though, and fans will no doubt wish him a speedy recovery after that injury scare at The Den.
