Wrexham have seen a lot of players come and go in the last four seasons.

After Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds took over the club in February 2021, they sacked Dean Keates and appointed Phil Parkinson as manager, going into 2021/22.

Parkinson has largely been in charge of all recruitment at Wrexham over the last several years.

In the current transfer window, Wrexham have signed Danny Ward and Ryan Hardie, while a number of players have already left the club.

Sam Dalby has joined Bolton Wanderers after he decided against signing a new contract with the Dragons.

Including Dalby, Wrexham released eight senior players when they announced their retained list after 2024/25 came to a close.

Meanwhile, another star released under Parkinson has now had a transfer confirmed this week.

Released Wrexham player seals transfer

Wrexham signed Reece Hall-Johnson from Northampton Town on a free transfer back in 2020.

The 30-year-old made 70 appearances for the Welsh side in all competitions but was released in 2023.

Parkinson explained why Hall-Johnson was let go by Wrexham at the time, saying: “Jake wasn’t with us this season and his contract is up so it is time for him to find another club. Reece is the same.

“He has been a good pro around the training ground all season, always conducted himself well, but he wants to go somewhere where he has got more chance of playing. We wish them both all the best.”

Hall-Johnson joined Barnet after departing the Racecourse Ground before linking up with Solihull Moors on loan.

His contract with Barnet expired on June 30, 2025, and his move to King’s Lynn has now been made official this week.

On signing for King’s Lynn, the player told the club’s official website: “It’s great to be here. I had a conversation with the manager and he sold me the vision of the club, what he wants to do and where he wants to take it, it just aligned with my ideas and how I want my career to go. James has done well at other clubs, so I’m hoping he can bring that to King’s Lynn”.

“I think as a player, nothing impresses you more than a manager who wants you, a manager who wants to play you, and a manager who wants to give you a platform and he expressed that with me”.

Every player to leave Wrexham in 2025

As already mentioned, eight players have left the club for free this summer.

Elsewhere, Shrewsbury Town completed the signing of Will Boyle after the defender was linked to Gillingham.

And, of course, Paul Mullin has left Wrexham for Wigan Athletic, signing on loan for 2025/26.
