Former Wrexham favourite Jordan Davies is really building momentum after another brilliant performance for Fleetwood Town.

Wrexham fans will always have a real appreciation for the promotion-winning heroes in recent years, but especially those who featured in the National League.

Any Wrexham achievement will do well to match the outpouring of emotion and elation after beating Boreham Wood to seal promotion to League Two.

Wrexham’s rapid rise means some of those heroes have started to move on, though, and they are now seeking success elsewhere.

Fleetwood Town show appreciation for Wrexham favourite Jordan Davies

Paul Mullin to Wigan Athletic and Ollie Palmer’s move to Swindon Town were the most emotional exits from the summer transfer window, but Jordan Davies also moved on.

A hometown fan favourite, Davies was released at the end of his contract after a loan spell with Grimsby Town.

Davies returned to Wrexham in 2020 after a spell with Brighton and Hove Albion and was one of the stars in the National League.

Sadly, Davies was phased out of the Wrexham side and spent most of the summer as a free agent, waiting for his next opportunity.

Fleetwood Town pounced to sign Davies in August, and the move has been a masterstroke for the League Two side.

Davies picked up an assist against Walsall earlier this month, before scoring against Cambridge United last weekend.

This weekend, Davies took his game to another level by scoring twice in a 4-2 win for Fleetwood over Colchester United.

Fleetwood’s official X account has now posted a tribute to Davies, simply posting ‘Jordan Davies is a very good footballer’.

They then added ‘Shall we just agree Jordan Davies is our MOTM?’, with the midfielder clearly making a huge impact in Lancashire.

Davies has now racked up three goals and one assist in his last three games, and Wrexham fans are surely delighted to see him finding his best form again.

Fleetwood Town boss on Jordan Davies

Davies is quickly becoming a key man at Fleetwood, and he has now been praised by boss Pete Wild.

Speaking on Fleetwood’s official website, Wild hailed Davies for his finishing and his passing ability.

Wild also admitted that he has been a fan of Davies for a long time, and is so glad to finally have him at his disposal.

“I’ve been a big fan of Jordan for years, and he showed his quality today with two terrific finishes,” said Wild.

“He gives us balance, he can spot a pass, and he brings goals,” he added.

Davies loved his time under Rob Mac and Ryan Reynolds, but he is now thriving on a consistent basis for Fleetwood – and seeing him excel is all any Wrexham fan could want for the midfielder.
