Wrexham are on a rapid rise through the footballing pyramid and it could not been achieved without the investment from the owners.

Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have improved virtually every aspect of the club since their takeover in 2021, including the redevelopment of the Kop stand that was announced recently.

The Wrexham owners ultimate goal is to reach the Premier League and establish themselves in the top flight however, Reynolds and McElhenney have lost £20m since their purchase of the club.

Long term sustainability of Wrexham has always been at the forefront of the fans’ minds given the history of the club but a key member of staff at the Racecourse Ground is working hard in order to provide that solid foundation.

Wrexham academy manager Andy Lowe says goal is to help long term sustainability of club by producing young talent

Speaking to the club’s official YouTube channel, Wrexham academy manager Andy Lowe has been providing an insight into the improvements made around the youth set up and the ultimate aim of producing talent for the Wrexham first team squad.

Lowe stated: “If you look at the first team, Phil and the investment from the owners is incredible and they’re on the crest of a wave. That trajectory is amazing to see and it’s amazing to be a part of.”

Lowe then explains: “But if you look at long term sustainability, and you look at the really successful clubs and the really successful academies, they produce players that have gone on to play first team football and either saved their club millions or they’ve made their club millions.”

Chief executive Michael Williamson outlined plans for new training facilities and the club is certainly moving in the right direction with their infrastructure.

Academy stars such as Max Cleworth and Harry Ashfield already making their mark

The academy is already making its mark on Phil Parkinson’s first team side, Harry Ashfield scored his first professional goal for the club in the recent 4-1 EFL Trophy win at Port Vale.

In addition, Max Cleworth made his 100th appearance for the Red Dragons in the defeat to Leyton Orient and has become one of League One’s best defenders.
