Wrexham are set to compete in the Championship for the first time since the competition was rebranded in the early 2000s.
Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds have taken the Welsh side from the National League to the second tier of English football in the space of four years.
Wrexham set a record at the end of their 2024/25 League One season, and attention has now turned toward the forthcoming campaign.
McElhenney hinted at promotion yet again when discussing the idea of ‘consolidation’ in 2025/26 recently.
Meanwhile, Reynolds backs Wrexham to reach the Premier League within the next decade.
Ben Foster’s prediction for the Red Dragons regarding the top flight was even more ambitious, but they must first navigate the Championship.

Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney’s net worths compared to Championship owners
Wrexham’s wage outlay compared to Championship teams right now is pretty small.
But their owners have shown they are able to generate increasing revenue, with record profits in 2023/24 and more importantly, reinvest back into the team, including three records transfers in the last two windows – Ollie Rathbone, Modou Faal and then Sam Smith.
Now, we have taken a look at every club currently in the second tier and their owner’s net worths compared to Rob and Ryan.
Right now, the Wrexham pair are understood to have a combined estimated net worth of $400M.
That would, at least on paper, put them toward the bottom of the list in the Championship.
The Allyn family net worth
While Rob and Ryan are the owners of Wrexham, the club has also received fresh investment in the last year.
The Allyn family invested in Wrexham in October 2024, with Reynolds and McElhenney left ‘blown away’ by their new partners.
They have an estimated net worth of $2.13B, over five times as much as the club’s North American owners.
The Allyn family looked at Liverpool and other Premier League sides previously but opted to join the Red Dragons.
