Phil Parkinson’s Wrexham side have won, once again, in League One as they saw off Burton Albion.
The Red Dragons made it four wins in a row against The Brewers, with an Elliott Lee strike the difference on the day.
Wrexham had some standout performers on Saturday. Eoghan O’Connell was excellent, as was Ryan Barnett – but it was a man who didn’t exactly have his finest game who made the difference, as he so often does, and that was Lee.
Wrexham fans lauded Lee for his goal, which was out of the ordinary, even for him. Lee scored directly from a corner, with an assist from Storm Darragh as the wind wreaked havoc in East Staffordshire.
The win will make Red Dragons owners Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds very happy indeed. The latter was particularly impressed and equally baffled by Lee’s ludicrous strike.

Ryan Reynolds baffled by Elliot Lee’s corner goal vs Burton
Taking to Instagram after the fixture, Reynolds expressed his confusion and delight for Lee’s match-winner, by reposting the strike to his story with the simple, yet effective caption of, ‘ffs’.

The goal means Lee is now on five goals and two assists for the season, which aren’t bad numbers – but fans are convinced he’s capable of more.
Wrexham fans weren’t happy with Lee after Lincoln City last month after he struggled when playing as a make-shift striker, and despite his strike, he has been largely poor over the past two fixtures.
Saying this, if he can keep providing match-winning moments – he won’t be in the bad books of Wrexham fans for very long.
Elliot Lee’s goal was actually Phil Parkinson’s doing
The attacker can’t take all the credit for his strike – some of that must also go to Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson, as Lee explained in his post-match Wrexham interview.
He said: “We do a lot on set pieces and with Parky, he gives us a license to shoot and that’s basically what the plan was today with the wind, just shoot for goal and see what happens.
“The keeper will be under pressure, and luckily for me ones gone in the back stick.”
Wrexham now face Crewe Alexandra, where they won’t have the aid of the storm on their side – so may have to refer back to some other tactics.
