One former Wrexham star has shown his true thoughts about Paul Mullin ahead of the 2025/26 Championship season.
With the Championship campaign looming, Wrexham are making changes in the summer transfer window.
As for incomings, Wrexham have targeted Sheffield Wednesday’s Barry Bannan, whilst a catalogue of other Championship-experienced midfielders remain on Phil Parkinson’s wishlist.
Strikers have also been targeted early on this summer, with Wrexham showing interest in Danny Ings.
With players set to arrive at the Racecourse Ground, of course, that will mean departures, one of which could be Wrexham star Paul Mullin.
In the latest episode of Welcome to Wrexham, Mullin gave an emotional interview explaining his desire to represent the club in the Championship at least once, something that former player Lee Trundle has had his say on.

Former Wrexham striker Lee Trundle backs up ‘quality’ Paul Mullin as Phil Parkinson faces key decision
It is a huge debate as to whether Wrexham should keep hold of Mullin this season in the Championship.
The Wrexham striker was rarely used in the 2024/25 League One campaign, particularly in the latter stages, something that could indicate he is far down the pecking order of strikers. It will be made even more difficult for him to earn a start next year if Wrexham are to succeed in bringing some star-studded forwards to the club.
Many fans have suggested that Mullin doesn’t have the quality to be part of a Championship side and that there should be no room for sentiment this summer, but former Wrexham star Lee Trundle disagrees.
Writing on X, Trundle gave his thoughts on whether the club should keep hold of Mullin this season.
“People have short memories,” wrote Trundle. “Would love him to get back to himself and prove them all wrong. Quality striker.”
Paul Mullin could play an integral role under Phil Parkinson away from the pitch
Whilst it is understandable to suggest that Mullin doesn’t have the quality to play at the peak of his powers in the Championship, there is no reason to suggest that he should instantly be made surplus to requirements.
Mullin’s love for the club is limitless and such passion for the team can have its benefits, even if he isn’t playing week in week out.
With the expected incomings in the striker department, Mullin could help them settle into Wrexham whilst also pushing them in the pecking order.
In the Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney era, a Wrexham team without Mullin would feel incomplete, and his absence would certainly harm the dressing room.
