Ollie Palmer has been in action for new club Swindon Town over the weekend, and has scored again.

Along with Paul Mullin, Ollie Palmer cemented himself as a Wrexham legend during the early years of the Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac era.

The striking duo fired the Red Dragons from the fifth tier of English football, where they were stuck for 15 years, up to League One.

However, Phil Parkinson decided to drop Mullin and Palmer early in 2025, with neither player featuring in the league after January 28.

In turn, it came as little surprise when both left the Racecourse Ground during the summer transfer window.

Ollie Palmer scores for Swindon Town to surpass Wrexham total

Palmer’s Wrexham contract was terminated in late August so that he could secure a move elsewhere.

The 33-year-old has dropped down to League Two, now plying his trade for Swindon Town.

Before leaving, Palmer’s last game for Wrexham saw the striker come off the bench to score a brace in the first round of the Carabao Cup versus Hull.

At Swindon, meanwhile, he opened his account on September 2 with a goal against Jack Marriott’s Reading in the EFL Trophy.

Now, the former Wrexham man has scored again, netting the opening goal after seven minutes when Ian Holloway’s side faced Bromley in a League Two meeting.

That took his goal tally for 2025/26 up to four, already surpassing the three he managed in North Wales across all competitions last season.

What Ollie Palmer has said about Wrexham return

Palmer joined Wrexham in January 2022 from AFC Wimbledon for what was, at the time, a club-record fee.

He enjoyed several prolific years in North Wales and is still associated with the club thanks to his Wrexham Clothing brand.

After leaving, Palmer spoke about returning to the Racecourse at some point.

He said: “It’s been an absolute privilege and honour to be at this football club and to be able to achieve the things that we have and there’s going to be many more great moments for this football club.

“In five, ten, fifteen, twenty years down the line I want to be able to watch, spectate and be able to be in the stands and enjoy myself.

“The relationships within that dressing room are so strong and I think winning and getting promotions definitely helped grow those bonds.

“There’s just something special about this football club and you just want it to last forever. Wrexham will have a place in my heart for the rest of my life.

“It’s been the best three and a half years of my career so far easily and something that can never be taken away from me.”
