Wrexham said goodbye to Paul Mullin earlier this summer, as the striker completed a loan move to League One side Wigan Athletic.
Wrexham are busy preparing for life in the Championship, and Phil Parkinson is a busy man.
Liberato Cacace joined Wrexham on Friday as he arrived from Empoli, before George Thomason left Bolton Wanderers for a move to the STōK Cae Ras.
Josh Windass is set to join Wrexham, offering a boost to Parkinson’s attacking options.
Parkinson is shaking up his attack this summer, with Steven Fletcher released and Paul Mullin loaned out to Wigan Athletic.
Mullin’s exit was a difficult and emotional one, but his lack of game time at Wrexham in 2025 meant an exit was inevitable.

Paul Mullin scores first Wigan Athletic goal
Mullin may have only left Wrexham on loan for now, but a permanent exit in 2026 looks likely.
Wrexham fans will keep tabs on Mullin’s progress at Wigan, with the striker certainly cementing himself as a hero at the STōK Cae Ras forever.
It was a relatively slow start; Wigan boss Ryan Lowe suggested Mullin was rusty in his first appearance against Chorley, a game which the Latics won 2-1.
Mullin has been waiting for his first goal in a Wigan shirt, and it came on Tuesday during a private friendly against Liverpool Under-21s.
Wigan drew the game 1-1 at Kirkby Academy, with Mullin opening the scoring against the Reds youngsters.
This may have only been in a behind-closed-doors friendly, but Mullin is seeking match sharpness and confidence in front of goal after a testing 2025.
Paul Mullin has just one more friendly before the season starts
Wrexham’s clash with Southampton to kick off the Championship season is now just over two weeks away.
The League One season starts a week earlier, though, meaning Mullin and Wigan are so close to starting the new campaign.
Wigan now have just one more pre-season friendly to play, with Mullin’s former club, Tranmere Rovers, the opponents this weekend.
It’s then straight into League One action, with Mullin and Wigan facing Northampton Town on the opening day.
Games against Leyton Orient, Notts County, Peterborough United and Luton Town follow, with Mullin hoping to make a fast start.
A punctured lung impacted the start to Mullin’s 2023-24 campaign, and recovery from surgery meant last season’s opening was also slow going.
Mullin now wants a strong start to the season, and his first goal coming against Liverpool U21s will hopefully provide the boost of confidence he needs at Wigan.
