Wrexham owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney aren’t short of cash. Far from it. And next season they could even earn a few more million from the FA Cup alone.
After earning promotion to the Championship, it’s now thought that Wrexham are valued at around £150million. It makes for a staggering 7,400% increase on the £2million that Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney originally purchased the club for.
And going into this summer, it’s already been reported that Wrexham have a £25million transfer budget to spend on new players. On top of that, Wrexham will pay players huge contracts too, even going up to the £30,000-a-week mark to tempt new talent to the Racecourse.
Now a Championship side, Wrexham also come into more money from TV rights and so on, whilst their rise up the Football League and growing popularity in the States and around the world only continues to serve their sponsorship and commercial revenues.
There’s also the FA Cup, which if Wrexham can progress in, could add another nice chunk of money to the club’s deep pockets.

What Phil Parkinson has said about the FA Cup and Wrexham
Last season, Harrogate Town knocked Wrexham out of the FA Cup in the First Round. It was a disappointment, but it took nothing away from the eventual success that Wrexham and Phil Parkinson had in League One last time round.
Speaking recently, Parkinson has given his verdict on the FA Cup and how Wrexham will qualify for next season’s tournament in the Third Round, giving them a head start in the competition compared to the last 40 or so years, and leaving them just six games away from a first-ever FA Cup win. Though that might be a dream too far right now, even for Wrexham.
Parkinson said of the FA Cup: “Everyone wants to be in that third round draw in early January and the club has had to work hard to try and achieve that over the last 43 years.
“So to come into the competition at that point is brilliant for us. Harrogate proved to be a bit problematic for us in the cup but we will take that with the success we have had in the league.”

The 2024/25 prize money at each stage of the FA Cup
When Wrexham were knocked out of the FA Cup last season, they pocketed £15,000, whilst Harrogate Town received an impressive £45,000, per the FA’s official website.
Next season, however, if Wrexham are knocked out in their first FA Cup game of the season they’ll receive £25,000, assuming last season’s prize money remains the same. If they win they’ll get £115,000.
The winner of the tournament receives £2,000,000 in the end. Last season it was Crystal Palace who won the FA Cup, winning a total of £3,910,000 in prize money alone.
So for Wrexham and indeed any team outside of the Premier League, there’s a definite incentive to do well in the FA Cup, and for Wrexham it could make for another fairy-tale story on this incredible journey so far under Reynolds, McElhenney, and Parkinson.
Wrexham return to action next month during their pre-season tour of Australia, which kicks off against Melbourne Victory on July 11th.
