Wrexham are basking in the glory of their third successive promotion.

Wrexham’s players are celebrating in Las Vegas whilst Phil Parkinson is reflecting upon his historic feat and preparing for the challenge of the Championship.

Ollie Rathbone has backed Wrexham to cause a few upsets in the second tier and plans are already being formulated to strengthen the squad. Maksym Talovierov is a player of interest to Wrexham.

Humphrey Ker has learned from Ryan Reynolds during his time at Wrexham but amid the club’s continuing success, he has reminded the co-owner of a warning he gave during their very first meeting.

Humphrey Ker reveals warning he sent to Ryan Reynolds

Speaking on the latest episode of the ‘High Performance’ podcast, community director Ker revealed the warning he sent to Reynolds upon the first phone call about taking over the club.

Ker stated: “Actually the very first thing I said to Ryan [Reynolds] on that very first call, I said just so you know, if we do this and we are successful with this, there will come a time where you are called a c— in front of your kids in like Manchester airport by a Wrexham fan.

“We will have lost four games in a row you know in the Championship and we will be teetering near relegation or we will be doing something and someone will have a proper go at you in front of your kids.”

So far, the Red Dragons’ supporters will have nothing but love and adulation for both Reynolds and McElhenney but there may be tougher times ahead next season.

What Wrexham need to do to stabilise in the Championship

Reynolds and McElhenney share lofty Wrexham ambitions but the realistic challenge facing the club next season is to try and stabilise within the Championship.

In order to do that Parkinson will have to trim his squad this summer as Championship rules only allow a 25-man squad, including goalkeepers.

The likes of Will Boyle and Luke Bolton are almost certain to be leaving the club whilst Paul Mullin is also likely to depart and Steven Fletcher’s contract decision needs to be made by May 17th.

Once that squad is trimmed, Parkinson will be targeting players with experience of the second tier that can add immediately slot into his starting eleven.

Reynolds has praised Parkinson’s transfer strategy of not signing ‘egos’ but the Wrexham boss knows this is possibly his most difficult yet important window of his reign at the Racecourse Ground.
