Ryan Reynolds agrees with Rob McElhenney on Wrexham ‘consolidation’ stance
McElhenney dismissed Wrexham ‘consolidation’ claims amid promotion from League One and speaking on the latest ‘Fearless in Devotion’ podcast, Reynolds has backed his co-owner.
Reynolds stated: “Consolidation, yeah that’s just generally kind of a horrible word right? I mean consolidation is like a disease.
“So no, consolidation is a big no thank you but listen Rob is welcome to choose whatever word he wants to make an enemy of but I don’t want to do that too much.”
Wrexham’s £40m Championship boost should ensure that the club are able to compete in the summer transfer window and gather a squad that is ready to once again aim for lofty heights.
Positions that Wrexham need to strengthen
Wrexham’s squad will need to be trimmed with EFL rules stating Championship sides can only name 25 players, including goalkeepers.
Parkinson has admitted departures will happen this summer with the likes of Paul Mullin and Ollie Palmer among the high-profile names expected to leave the Racecourse Ground.
However, the Red Dragons will feel there are a number of areas that will need improving amid the challenge of the Championship.
Central midfield will need one or two more options and Wrexham fans have been crying out for a number ten in the last couple of seasons – a player who can create chances from deep.
Jay Rodriguez’s difficult start to life in North Wales means another striker is a real possibility, whilst one or two more defensive options would also be handy for the manager to have at his disposal.
