Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have taken Wrexham to new heights and decided to look for fresh investors in the club during 2024/25.
Wrexham’s value increased to £100m in 2025, a staggering £98m more than Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds paid back in 2021.
Together, the duo have helped Wrexham rise from the fifth tier of English football all the way up to the Championship.
But as they continue to climb the ranks, the cost of running the club is growing and growing.
In 2025/26, for example, Wrexham are expected to quadruple their wage bill, paying out in excess of £40m.
So, it was not surprising to see Rob and Ryan seek out new investment earlier in 2024/25, which came in the form of the Allyn family.

Humphrey Ker explains Allyn family love for Wrexham
The Allyn family invested in Wrexham in 2024, coming on board at the back end of October.
Now, in Season 4 Episode 3 on Welcome to Wrexham, which released on Friday in the UK, Humphrey Ker has been discussing them and shared an insight into why they chose to invest.
He said: “The first time I met the Allyns was in pre-season. It was the Vancouver game, and suddenly they looked over my shoulder as though Elvis had come into the room because Wayney from The Turf had entered the vicinity, and they rushed over to him and were like ‘oh my god, we love you Wayne’.
“That speaks to why they’re here. They love the town and the people much more than they’re excited about hanging around with the Fancy Dans in the posh boxes.”
The Allyn family’s net worth is said to be in excess of £1bn after they sold their company in 2015.

More billionaires want to invest in Wrexham
The Allyn family looked at Liverpool before deciding to go into business with Rob and Ryan.
And they are not the only mega-rich names who have shown an interest in the club over the last four years.
In an interview earlier this month, Ker said that multiple billionaires have asked about investing in Wrexham.
He said: “I think it’s very possible [reaching the Premier League], but I think that if you know we build our training ground, and we build our stand and we renovate the stadium and we get ourselves up to like we’ve got a 20,000-seat modernish stadium that retains the charm, and we can make that jump.
“Then I think what happens is that Rob and Ryan go into their Rolodex and call up one of the dozens and dozens of people who’ve got in touch within the last four years and been like ‘hi I’m a multi, multi, multi billionaire, I want to join in on this with you’.”
