Wrexham are just over a week away from starting the Championship season as the journey under Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds continues.

The Championship season is now just over a week away, and Wrexham are ramping up recruitment ahead of the big kick-off.

Conor Coady is close to joining Wrexham, with the defender on the verge of a £2million move from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Nathan Broadhead is expected to join Wrexham from Ipswich Town in a £7.5million swoop, while Phil Parkinson is set to land Kieffer Moore as his new striker.

Wrexham’s outlay on these three signings will be over £11million, and this comes after recently landing four signings in the space of a week.

Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds are providing serious backing for Parkinson, and with Wrexham’s trip to Southampton looming large, the push for Championship success is on.

Tom Brady comments on Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds

Wrexham have achieved back-to-back-to-back promotions and, while a fourth may be unlikely, we can’t rule anything out with this club.

Birmingham City have joined Wrexham in the Championship, with both clubs achieving promotion from League One last season.

Hype around both clubs has been huge, with Hollywood duo McElhenney and Reynolds leading Wrexham to glory and Tom Brady involved as an investor at Birmingham.

The high-profile trio brought major interest to Birmingham City v Wrexham games last season, especially from the North American audience.

Birmingham and Wrexham lock horns again this season, and former NFL quarterback Brady has offered his view on the success under McElhenney and Reynolds.

Brady told The Sports Agents that he thinks Wrexham’s journey has been ‘incredible’ so far, and he is nothing but impressed with what McElhenney and Reynolds have done so far.

Brady praised McElhenney and Reynolds for investing in the club and the community, all while making the world aware of Wrexham.

The former New England Patriots superstar believes that Wrexham are in a ‘great position’ right now, but believes more success could arrive.

“Wrexham have done an incredible job,” said Brady.

“You can’t be anything but excited about what they’ve done for that club. To invest in the club, where they were at, and to create the awareness around the world for this amazing team in a pretty small city… and the way the players have responded has been nothing short of remarkable.

“I’m so impressed by Wrexham, what they do on the pitch, off the pitch, and, again, they’re in a great position to succeed as well,” he added.

How Birmingham City’s summer spending compares to Wrexham

If Wrexham wrap up the deals for Coady, Broadhead and Moore, the summer spending will go towards £20million in transfer fees.

There could be even more spending to come, with Wrexham interested in signing Juan Portilla from Talleres, with a rumoured £4million price tag on his head.

That could take Wrexham’s spending towards £25million, which is a serious outlay for any club coming up from League One.

Birmingham World claim that Birmingham have spent £9.2million on transfer fees so far this summer, though they accept that signing-on fees will be a major factor.

The Blues have signed Demarai Gray and Kyogo Furuhashi in cash deals, while adding Kanya Fujimoto and Bright Osayi-Samuel on free transfers.

Birmingham snapped up Wrexham target Tommy Doyle on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers, and he has been joined by fellow loanees James Beadle and Eiran Cashin.

Both Wrexham and Birmingham have pulled off impressive business this summer, and both will be aiming for much more than just survival this season.
