If Wrexham are serious about signing a new striker this month, they should beg one Championship club to lend them one of the most prolific forwards in the Football League.
With both Paul Mullin and Ollie Palmer failing to hit the highs of recent years, Wrexham are in dire need of some firepower as they look to secure a third-successive promotion this season.
Steven Fletcher has been praised for his form of late, but the veteran forward cannot carry the team’s goalscoring hopes on his back alone.

Nathan Lowe could be perfect for Wrexham, if Stoke will let him go
Walsall have been one of the big success stories through the Football League this season, and the Saddlers are miles out in front at the top of League Two. One of the key reasons for this is the impressive form of Nathan Lowe, but they cannot rely on the young striker anymore.
Lowe registered 18 goals and seven assists in 30 games for Walsall, but has just been recalled by his parent club, Stoke City, cutting his season-long loan short.
With Stoke bringing in Mark Robins as their new manager, Lowe was invited to train with the Potters last week, and it seems the 19-year-old did enough to suggest he could have a place in Robins’ plans moving forward.
Walsall released a statement upon losing Lowe, saying: “Nathan has made a huge impact during his spell with us… His ability and personality shone brightly on and off the pitch.”
It remains to be seen now whether Stoke will retain Lowe for the rest of the season, or let him leave on loan again, this time to a team playing at a higher level. If it’s the latter, Parkinson must add Lowe to the Wrexham squad and watch the striker fire the Red Dragons to glory.
Youth could be the answer as Wrexham’s ageing strikers flounder
Both Mullin and Palmer, now 30 and 32 years old respectively, have shown concerning levels of decline this season, with just five league goals between them so far.
And, with Wrexham’s promotion rivals making moves in the market, Parkinson must act fast and reinforce his squad if he wants the Red Dragons to stay in this title race.
Now, it is time for Wrexham to look at younger options rather than relying on the old heads in their squad. Will Lankshear is another target Parkinson should consider this month, if Lowe cannot be obtained.
But, Wrexham may find their pulling power limited, as proven by their seeming failure to sign Joe Gelhardt, with higher profile targets appearing to be more difficult to obtain now, even with all that Hollywood money behind the club.
