Wrexham are in the market for a new centre-forward and are aiming to sign Michael Smith yet again.
Wrexham tried to sign Michael Smith from Sheffield Wednesday during the 2024 summer transfer window.
The striker remained at Hillsborough, however, as Danny Rohl was not thought to be keen on sending him out on loan.
But six months later the former Rotherham United man’s contract with the Owls is running down and his future is uncertain.
Wrexham target Smith left the door open to a transfer when discussing his future plans earlier this season.
Now, with the Red Dragons eyeing a number nine once more in January, Phil Parkinson has an interest in Smith yet again.

Michael Smith transfer should see Wrexham star leave in January
Smith has five goals and four assists in the Championship this season – more goal contributions than any Wrexham striker in League One this term.
If he does arrive at the Racecourse Ground, he will likely take up a starting role as Parkinson’s target man in his two-man strike force.
Jack Marriott and Paul Mullin, or perhaps another January addition will likely partner him, leaving little room for one player.
Ollie Palmer and Steven Fletcher are the obvious backup options to Smith given the former is a regular starter and Fletcher has five goals off the bench in 2024/25.
In turn, it makes sense for Modou Faal to be loaned out for the second half of the current season – perhaps to a League Two team.

Modou Faal Wrexham stats
The 21-year-old moved to Wales from West Bromwich Albion over the summer in a club-record £590,000 deal.
Faal has been called ‘unplayable’ in Wrexham training this season but he just isn’t getting enough game time at senior level.
He has only managed to notch 55 minutes of League One action across six appearances, with the remainder of his opportunities coming in cup competitions.

As a result, with Smith and other strikers being targeted, Wrexham simply have to send him out on loan to ensure he gets enough minutes in the coming months to continue his development.
