Norwich City star made stunning Wrexham claim before the game, Phil Parkinson has made him eat his words

One Norwich City player was incredibly confident before the clash with Wrexham, and his pre-match comments prove how much Phil Parkinson’s side have been underestimated.

Wrexham managed a brilliant win against Norwich City, as Phil Parkinson’s side found themselves as 3-2 victors.

Josh Windass stole the show for Wrexham, but every player covered themselves in glory, with Issa Kabore putting in a phenomenal showing, while Ryan Longman also got on the scoresheet.

A brilliant performance was needed by Wrexham to turn the game around in the second half, but they were helped along the way by a poor Norwich City display, which left Canaries boss Liam Manning ‘angry’.

Norwich City were expected to win at Carrow Road, and that was reflected in what Emiliano Marcondes said before the game, which, in hindsight, has left him looking silly.

Norwich City star Emiliano Marcondes made foolish pre-match Wrexham prediction

In the build-up to Wrexham’s trip to Norfolk to play Norwich City, there was a sense of optimism around the Canaries camp.

That was embodied by Danish star Emiliano Marcondes, who, via The PinkUn, showed his excitement to play Wrexham, and how they would supposedly benefit by playing against Phil Parkinson’s tactics.

“Excited to play them,” said Marcondes before Norwich City vs Wrexham. “They really fit the way we want to play, our strengths. I’m looking forward to celebrating with the fans after.”

Marcondes’ assumption that he would be ‘celebrating with the fans after’ seemed quite premature, and it has come back to bite him.

The win for Wrexham now sees Parkinson’s side level on points with Norwich City and one place behind them in 15th.

Wrexham were underestimated before Norwich City clash

Following the defeat against a high-flying QPR side, questions were asked of Phil Parkinson and Wrexham.

It was a deflating defeat for the Red Dragons at home, but it may have had the silver lining of affecting how Norwich City approached their clash with Wrexham.

Emiliano Marcondes’s bold statement before the game appears to have reflected on Norwich City’s general views on Wrexham, which clearly worked in Parkinson’s favour.

Hopefully, Wrexham are able to continue going under the radar as a team to watch this season and can surprise many more in the Championship.
