One player likely to depart from the Premier League could go Wrexham’s way, with Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney having the opportunity to rejuvenate the career of a brilliant star.

Wrexham have already begun to delve into the transfer market as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of the 2025/26 Championship season.

After promotion to the Championship, Phil Parkinson will no doubt want to refresh his options, and that could see some players depart as well.

Steven Fletcher has left Wrexham, whilst Paul Mullin could also have a departure sanctioned this summer.

As for incomings, it is clear that Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney are keen to bring in a midfielder this summer, with Tom Cairney linked to Wrexham, whilst former Rangers star Tom Lawrence has also been sounded out as an option.

Wrexham have a clear desire to bring in free agents, such as Cairney and Lawrence, which means that they will be aware of one Brentford star set to leave the Premier League side, whose career has been somewhat derailed, but Parkinson could soon get it back on track.

Wrexham could revive career of former Arsenal and Championship-proven star Josh Dasilva

Looking at the options that Wrexham have in the Premier League free agent market, they could potentially identify Brentford midfielder Josh Dasilva as an option.

Having come through the Arsenal academy, where he was highly rated by Arsene Wenger, Dasilva was a brilliant academy prospect at the Emirates before he moved to Brentford.

Dasilva previously spoke about the impact that Wenger had on his career, via the Brentford in-house media, as he said: “I had a few one-on-one chats with him. He taught me about being intelligent on the ball, not to rush into things, and just to stay relaxed.

“Also, to believe in myself and believe in the decision that you’re making on the ball.”

After he joined Brentford, Dasilva managed a brilliant record at Championship level, notably managing 15 goals and eight assists across two seasons in the second-tier, helping the Bees to promotion.

He also played an integral role in the 2022/23 Premier League campaign, playing 36 times, but his last two seasons have unfortunately been injury-ridden, having not recorded a single appearance this season.

Josh Dasilva’s Championship record is enough reason for Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney to take a chance on him

Whilst it is a hindrance that Dasilva hasn’t been on the grass this season for Brentford, Wrexham could significantly benefit from signing the 26-year-old if they are able to get him back up to speed.

Parkinson clearly wants to pack out his squad with proven Championship quality, and Dasilva offers that in abundance; it’s just that there will need to be patience to get him back to the level we previously saw of him.

Dasilva offers goals, skill, as well as defensive ability, something that he has proven in the Premier League and Championship. As free signings go, Wrexham will struggle to do much better than that, and they should be the club to open out their arms to help revive his career.
