Wrexham made history this season after achieving a third-straight promotion. Could a fourth be on the cards?
Most will doubt Wrexham ahead of the 2025/26 Championship. But everyone doubted them in League Two and then League One, so it’d be foolish to keep on doubting Phil Parkinson’s side.
Wrexham have been tipped to stabilise in the Championship next season. But co-owner Ryan Reynolds has predicted Premier League football within 10 years, so expect the Dragons to give it another go.
A strong summer transfer window will be needed if Wrexham genuinely want to compete next season. Here are three ambitious signings that the Dragons could make to turn them into promotion contenders next time round…

Ben Davies
Welsh legend Ben Davies is out of contract at Spurs this season. The left-back, who can also operate comfortably at centre-back, has just won the Europa League with Spurs, has more than 350 appearances to his name for the club, as well as 94 caps for Wales.
Signing Davies on a free transfer this summer would give Parkinson a hugely experienced and versatile option at the back, not to mention a Welsh hero of the game. He’ll potentially have offers to stay in the Premier League or go to a top-end Championship club though, so it’ll be difficult.
Joe Rothwell
Former Man United academy man Joe Rothwell has just completed a season-long loan with Leeds United. Fans there fell in love with the central midfielder who claimed four assists in 36 Championship games, earning huge praise for his range of passing: he’s not too dissimilar to Wrexham transfer target Tom Cairney.
Out of contract at Bournemouth in the summer of 2026, Rothwell is now facing a contested summer with his next move unknown. He was a key player for Leeds this season though and so a top end Championship move could suffice. He’s another who would be a great addition for the Dragons who don’t have a player with Rothwell’s range of passing.

Josh Brownhill
The most ambitious potential signing on this list would be Josh Brownhill. The Burnley man, who is out of contract this summer, finished the 2024/25 season as the Championship’s second-highest scorer with an incredible 18 goals from midfield.
Whilst Rothwell is more of a passer in the middle of the park, Brownhill is the one who gets forward and scores an array of goals, also chipping in with six assists in the season too.
Burnley remain in talks over his future. But if Wrexham can put a very lucrative offer on the table and sell the whole story to him, then it could prove to be one of the signings of the season in the Championship.
