Wrexham are picking up the pace in the transfer market, with Bolton Wanderers star George Thomason thought to be close to joining the Red Dragons.
After a slow start to the summer window, Wrexham have now got three new faces through the door with Ryan Hardie, Danny Ward, and Liberato Cacace confirmed.
There’s a good chance Josh Windass will be next, with the former Sheffield Wednesday ace undergoing a medical this week.
Alongside him, Phil Parkinson is looking to bring in Bolton star George Thomason to bolster his midfield in a £1.2m deal. It’s said the 24-year-old has had a medical already, so while we wait for confirmation, here are some of the winners and losers from such a deal.

Winners from George Thomason to Wrexham deal
The Wrexham defence
Thomason is a very solid, disciplined central midfielder who reads the game impeccably. His propensity for breaking up opposition attacks and turning over the ball will be hugely important for Wrexham.
The main beneficiaries of his presence, then, will be the players he is protecting in the Wrexham defence. The likes of Max Cleworth and Eoghan O’Connell will love having someone sat in front of them who is able to stop them being bombarded with attack after attack.
James McClean
As an accomplished left-footed player, Thomason will really help to open up that side of the pitch for Wrexham, and he should be able to link up with skipper James McClean very effectively.
Despite being 36-years-old, McClean loves to get up and down that left wing, but his job will become a lot easier if he has someone who feels absolutely comfortable around that area and who can get on his wavelength.
Phil Parkinson
Thomason may only be relatively young, but he’s already captained Bolton on numerous occasions, and Parkinson will relish having another leader in the Wrexham squad.
We’re not suggesting Thomason will come in and take the armband at Wrexham or anything, but his mature head and experience as a leading figure will do wonders for the players around him.
That’s something Wrexham have been lacking, but with the likes of Thomason and Windass, there’ll be a real sense of authority in the dressing room.

Losers from George Thomason’s switch to Wrexham
Andy Cannon
Suffice it to say, with Thomason coming in, and potentially Sivert Mannsverk, too, Wrexham are going to be packed in the middle of the park.
While the likes of Ollie Rathbone, George Dobson, and Elliot Lee may still be able to expect a first-team spot, Andy Cannon will be looking nervously over his shoulder.
The experienced midfielder played a bit-part role in League One, before suffering a big injury towards the end of the campaign. With Thomason on the way, Cannon may have to move on.

George Evans
The same goes for George Evans, who missed most of last season with injuries. The 30-year-old had groin problems before picking up a torn ankle ligament, and was simply left out of 25 matchday squads for selection purposes.
With just seven league appearances to his name in 2024/25, Evans is likely to be sold anyway, but that departure is now surely expedited with new arrivals imminent.
